Religious extremism and religious practices do not naturally parallel in many people.

Many bigoted Muslims i know would drink, harass girls, smoke etc. but police everyone's faith while several people who practice rituals just mind their own business.

What i took from wife's statement is this man was not practicing the duties of Islam too much.

I want to add that i am an ex-Muslim who thinks Islam should be criticized and seccularism should be adapted fiercely in mid east but there are lots of misconceptions on how Muslims act and divide.
