For the manga, pretty factual actually yea. Its consistently number 1 in sales. From a quality AND quantity perspective its pretty accurate. Can't even name you 1 battle shonen over 500 chapters in its league.
The fact that you think Gintama is a potential top 5 by seeing the first 14 eps, means your opinion is irrelevant. Ranking that mediocre stuff an 8 is more than an overstatement.
It definitely lives up to that score and some, but it sure as hell isn't there 14 eps in.
How is my opinion irrelevant? Mr.Expert on the matter
Lmao because I didn't just say how in my previous post ?
Not all that.
14 eps in Gintama has absolutely nothing. Lack of coherency, lack of plot progression, lack of characterization, gags are dry as characters are not properly fleshed out. Handing out an 8 just like that makes your opinion irrelevant.
>Implying that I'm asking for plot progression at this point of time
>opinion irrelevant
NB - 2016.
The anime so far is very good and i'm not going to even look for a guide of how to avoid fillers and shit. I'm going to watch and enjoy like how I did it with naruto part 1.
I score 'x' anime when I want to and you don't have to agree with my reasoning. After all, this is the internet and my taste differs from you.

The one thing its supposed to do best (gags) and it can't even properly execute that due to a complete lack of understanding of the quirks of the many characters.
What are you left with? Gintama banks on knowing the characters for its humour to work. It is known for having the slowest start to an anime for this reason. Its just random shit happening left and right. But ok if that's an 8 for you, alright, quite shallow grading.
What does this have to do with my response? I'm enjoying it so far and that is what the anime has to do, make me laugh and keep me entertained.
>I enjoy the anime and I think the pace is fine by ep14
>Calls my my opinion irrelevant
>shallow grading
This is not a review. I don't have to watch all the seasons available nor the movies in order to make a comment about a series.
Gintama pace is fine compared to One Piece (jesus this one was a hell of a ride).
One piece plot itself has barely progressed in the last years :lol
Funng thing even gintoki confirms that the plot has no purpose, the story is extremely character-driven thus it never feels like its going anyway and the first episodes are proof of that. Even right now when the manga is nearing its ending, the conflict is not part of the main plot which is basically "the yourozya are doing odd jobs for profit" XD
One Piece plot has progressed quite far in the past 10 chapters. Its funny cause now you have people saying its going a bit too fast.
But I don't see what that had to do with my post.
Not to mention One Piece's plot works entirely different from Gintama. Not to confuse plot progression with pacing, they do have a lot to do with each other, but they aren't the same thing.
In OP, stuff is happening simultaneously all around the verse, while Luffy and co are doing things on one island, plenty of stuff is changing around the verse, one chapter with info on these events after the arc ends is more than enough to make up for a slow paced Luffy showdown arc, and it can move the plot pretty damn fast.
Oda introduces a plot point, and moves on the next, and then he comes back to it later (example Ace's vivre card back in Alabasta/ Ace finding Blackbeard). This gives it a very lively feel, as if the world and characters are always doing something. OP plot is always on the move whether the Strawhats are or not. That's the difference.
Its not like Gintama which is quite glued to the main cast in terms of progress. With Gintama many times it feels like stuff is simply introduced on the spot for the sake of a conflict. It doesn't have the level of planning that comes with OP. Does it need it, for the type of show it is? Not really and It's certainly not its strong point.
So I don't see why OP was brought up. I might even prefer Gintama > OP. Don't really compare manga that way though, they are completely different and aim to be.
The question should always be, "In what this show aims to be/accomplish, does it to it right? "
Umibozu was not doing jack shit, he wasnt even introduced. What you are saying is exactly what I was referring to. Bleach does it all the time, I call it false events. Events that were not hinted at or shown, and then upon introduction of that character, the author adds the details of the events later. At the period of ep 1-14 the harusme were on the move, Umibozu was fighting in a different planet, karsura was trying to overthrow the government and Sakamoto is sending Elizabeth to katsura as a gift. That's a lot and it was all happening without the reader knowing according to the timline
More events=/= plot progression. Luffy for now is barely any closer to one piece/becoming the pirate king as he was in east blue. That doesn't mean that he didn't go through alot trying to achieve it already.
Exactly so I don't see why my opinion is irrelevant lol. And because of that, I highly suggest any new comers to not marathon it because you can get bored of it. I'm watching 3 episodes per day and I'm enjoying it. When I finish the third episode, I feel like I have to take a break of gintama because I might drop it if I do marathon it lol.
