It wasn't supposed to be low key. It's not really a secret that I don't respect Naruto's style of combat, or the fact that the manga shied away from tactics and intelligence in favor of flashy explosions and giant chakra monster avatars after the Invasion of Pain arc when Kishi's editor left.

It's literally no surprise that Sasuke didn't defeat Naruto. He was a character built on strategy and tactics, but was shoehorned into fighting Naruto with brute strength and chakra bombs, something Naruto was focused on from the very beginning.

It almost shows how much more advanced Sasuke was that he tied Naruto on his own terms.
