Yep dealing with cults is bad enough. A country wide cult is just a jumbo pot of crazy :wesobi:

No internet.
Officials do nothing, but lie
Their leader is a dumb Pudge (who supposedly invented the cheese burger) XD

Man I have heard some stories ::Sparks:

Ah man. The story of Yeonmi Park's escape was one of the saddest. We need to get James Franco over there to handle things :Sparks:

LOL wat da fck?!?!

It's true. They are judges who can outright increase prison time cause they're in a sh*tty mood or an example must be made out of your particular crime, however it doesn't nearly match up to North Korea so it's all good.

You should read that again more carefully. CURRENTLY, outside of detention centers and supermax prisons, torture is not tolerated. If a prisoner is tortured they are allowed to weave the language of international standards and treaties into their argument.

You can't be going to other countries expecting your country's laws and rules to apply.

Common sense says NK is a dangerous place and you should be careful.

Oh well what do I know right? Just don't drop the shovel because TSUNG SHIN is always watching you :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

lol you do speak truth. He wasn't careful and ignored clear guidelines that the state department briefed him on. If only he had made that foolish mistake anywhere else that wasn't ruled by tyrants.

Americans are not liked by North Korea. NK views them at as threats to their lifestyle. That poster of Kim is sacred to the regime/country. A monument if you will. We may view this as cruel as unusual, but imagine how America would feel if an ISIS member came and defaced a 9/11 memorial? We'd want some severe punishments. Ultimately, he should have known there would be consequences in a police state for defacing the ruling party. He'll be negotiated out of there in a couple of years

He says it was a dare, and was promised a 10,000 dollar car if successful.

^^I got a feeling dude is the type that falls for craigslist scams.

But all jokes aside he deserved to get in trouble obviously. Though I don't know how I feel about saying "It's Korea" in justifying his punishment. It could've been a different scenario where he just did something small unknowingly and they'd still probably go overboard because "It's Korea". The problem is still them not him

It's harsh, but he's only got himself to blame. You don't go there without full well knowing what they're like...

When in Rome and all that...

lmao, and yea that's what i'm saying. Aside from the unjust punishments they're sentencing americans to these past few years, their own people are suffering harder than you can imagine. And as long as curious travelers keep going there, things like this will continue to occur. Their hate for us won't just disappear like a Narutobase discussion thread. Nothing can, and will be done, anytime in the immediate future. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, it's their problem.

It was harsh but at 21 years old he should have known better than to do that in a crazy country like North Korea

This, what else is there to say? We all know what a fuqed up place North Korea is.
Edit: That is what you get for being a greedy, careless idiot.

I feel you but the fact that you had to use an ISIS member defacing 9/11 monument vs the 21 year old tourist stealing a damn poster of KJU in comparison kinda takes away from your point.

A better comparison would've been a NK tourist trying to steal a picture of our president. Hell the tourist could probably steal the american flag and wouldn't be punished to the same degree as the guy was

Yeah but it's all about degrees. Kim is supposedly a god to his people. Anything with his face is sacred. Compare that to our president, who was democratically elected. He is constantly satired because we have free speech. If you wanted, you can deface a picture of Obama anyway you want. A NK citizen stealing his photo, wouldn't be that offensive. Some people might even find it funny. The flag would definitely piss a lot of people off, but that person wouldn't go to jail for 21 years. I was just trying to convey how grave of an insult NK views defiling Kim's image
