Ninjas are the basic militia for the nations of the world. They reside from/or come from various hidden villages where they are usual trained to become a ninja. They possess physical prowess unmatched to the common citizen and perform superhuman tasks.
To me, I follow the same ideology as Naruto, Hashirama and Jiraiya that being a ninja means being able to endure.
Chakra is a mixture of physical and spiritual which is developed through years of martial art training and physical endeavors and meditation. It was first originated from the God Tree and passed on to the humans through princess Kaguya who ate a fruit bore from the tree which made her the first person to wield it. Ninjas take advantage of chakra by molding it and releasing it through pressure points on their bodies called tenketsu in order to perform jutsus, which enable them to perform extra ordinary tasks like Exhale fireballs, creating illusions etc.
A ninja can have a "maximum" amount of chakra that they can form and use before it runs out and they need to rest to regenerate it. With practice this limit can be increased, but to an extent they are limited to the quantity and strength of chakra that their genetics grants them.
In order to have good chakra control, a ninja must only mould as much chakra as they need to perform a jutsu. If they mould more chakra than is needed, the excess chakra is wasted and they will tire out faster from its loss. If they don't mould enough chakra, a technique will not be performed properly.
Ninjutsu is the most common of the three types of jutsus performed by a ninja. Any technique which is not hand to hand combat or illusions is considered as a ninjutsu, even the usage of weapons (like Tenten). Most ninjutsu involves shape and/or nature transformation.

You are certainly correct when it comes to this. The best way to describe them is by saying that they represent a military of a nation capable of manipulating chakra to great extent. This incorporates hand to hand combat as well as the elemental manipulation which requires the ability from one to perform nature and shape manipulaton in quick time-frame making it almost unnoticable. <:
Essentially chakra represents basic energy within each shinobi which is formed from two parts. That is physical and spiritual energy. Spiritual energy is one which comes from within each shinobi and its power is different depending on the shinobi at hand. On the other hand physical energy is one which is build over time and training and which can easily be improved. Well, it is better to say that is easier to improve the physical than spiritual energy, rather than saying that it is easily improved. It requires a lot of time and effort put from a shinobi. In my opinion best manifastation of spiritual energy would be Susano'. It increases with increase in potency of spiritual energy (in this case doujutsu). Hand seal basically help us as to manipulate exact amount of chakra that is needed for a specific technique. Each technique has a different sequence of hand seals that is needed for its performance. Some techniques need less hand seal whereas some other need more.

For starters I do know that it is one of the basic elements, and mostly used by the uchiha clan, and so thats why I assume they call it the land of fire. It is commonly affiliated to the tiger hand seal.
There are also variants to this in the form of some mediums such as the use of gun powder, ash, explosive tags and chakra flow into a weapon. Jutsus related to Fire element are usually performed storing the molded chakra in your chest cavity or stomach and super heating it and releasing it through the mouth and then what happens is the complete combustion of chakra, (thats what i infer from sasuke's flash back when his dad taught him fireball jutsu..)
I believe its capable of whatever happens when you shoot a flamethrower.. xd what i mean to say is that their attacks are usually mid to long range attacks, and can burn you severely through direct contact, their jutsu can also be in written form to be used in tools like explosive tags and are frequently used in complement to other weapons like kunais.
Fire increases its strength when it is in contact with wind as wind can provide air supply which means the faster supply of oxygen can help it burn brighter and stronger as it supports combustion, and obviously it can easily be extinguished by water unless a really high grade fire technique is used against a low grade water technique which in case can then the water to steam by evaporating it. It is also to be kept in mind that fire is only empowered by wind when it's blowing into the fire from behind speeding it up while the oxygen fuels it making it stronger. When wind faces fire head on it doesn't empower the fire but instead slightly weakens it, though less than any other element would. For example, when an A-Rank fire technique clashes with an A-Rank wind technique a B-Rank fire technique remains.
It can also be used with Lightning Release to help the latter by using the former to alter weather conditions with a sufficiently powerful technique like kirin.
Fire chakra is used in Boil Release, Lava Release and Scorch Release. (kekkei genkais)
It is also a component of the kekkei tota: Dust Release.

In my opinion, fire is one impulsive element as well as a precarious one, that can easily smoulder and suddenly burst. The flames of creativity and passion, dancing source of heat, life and light. Fire is capable of giving wings of fortitude, benevolence and devotion. Fire is adamant and exhilarating and doubtlessly not subtle. It is seen as a force that is burning inside all of us, giving us iron willpower as to reach our objective, bestowing upon us the passion to do it with all of ourself. What I learned is that water is stronger then fire. This being said, a C ranked water jutsu is equivalent in power as a B ranked fire jutsu, keeping in mind that sizes of jutsus are approximately the same. This is because water is capable of extinguishing flames and thus not letting them keep on burning. Although water is stronger then fire, when used in conjuction, the two are capable of forming steam. This is especially usable if you are a sensory ninja or are capable to in any way or form know where your opponent is standing. You will be capable of hiding your presence and thus create sneak attacks. Now if you know that your opponent is capable of sensing you could get rid of the steam by releasing wind which will passively blow away the steam as it continues towards opponent. Now when it comes to fire release and wind release. Fire is stronger then wind, because oxygen from which wind is formed is just going to fuel the flames. Although when they clash fire is going to overpower wind, they are actually quite great when it comes to their combo usage. Oxygen from which wind is formed is going tu fuel flames even more and thus make them stronger and make them effect bigger area. The speed of the technique that would now be running would be greater. Fire and Earth Release in our RP are neutral with each other. Which means that a C ranked fire technique will be equivalent in power as a C ranked earth technique, keeping in mind that their size is approximately the same. Although they are neutral to each other when they clash they are quite good when they combine with each other. The heatness from fire will effect the earth and thus melt it forming magma. Keep in mind that magma will be formed if earth is more solid. If the variation of earth release, mud was combined with fire release, heatness of fire is going to harden the mud. Same as with Earth Release, Fire and Lighting are neutral once they clash. It is usally great to make great damage to opponent. Fire release is going to burn down the opponent whereas lighting is going to shock opponent. Interesting to the two is that they in a way compensate each other. Fire is strong against Wind whereas, Lighting is weak against Wind. It would be good to let's say firstly send a lighting attack as a bait, assuming that opponent is going to use wind jutsu as you send a fire attack to follow it.

Ok so, take this paper sheet and try to infuse chakra within it. If you're able to manipulate element of fire it should burn to ashes. Think of fire's properties as you infuse it with chakra!

*I take the chakra paper and start concentrating on fire. Simultaneously molding chakra and passing it through my tenketsu towards my fingertips where they diffuse into the paper. While this happens, I concentrate on the element of fire, as mentioned by you, I sense the burning desire to reach my goal, and use it as a force that accomplishes my goal. My Hands start heating up, and I think of being one with fire and concentrate on the transfer of energy. *

I watch and learn.
I start to mold chakra in my lungs while simultaneously inhaling a large amount of oxygen and knead it with my chakra.
And then I start to super heat my oxygen infused chakra [while thinking of fire properties, nature manipulation] and channel it to my mouth in which I shape my lips in an O shape in order to shape the bits of Chakra into ball [shape manipulation].
After this I exhale vigorously and the chakra infused with oxygen begins to burn and the resulting combustion creates 5 balls spread over an area of radius 5 metres thus creating the technique

Amazing! This next technique have multiple applications, or well can be used both as a projectile or a stream. Due to last technique being a projectile type of technique, I'd like you to perform this one as a stream. Basically gather chakra in your body before releasing it from your mouth. Apply nature and shape manipulation to form a stream which you'll fuel as it is being released. Alternatively, you can use this as a projectile by releasing fire balls and also releasing it from your limbs rather than mouth. Due to its nature, you can use it so to aid you in taijutsu.

I concentrate Fire Chakra in the stomach and knead with oxygen as i breathe in as usual...
I focus it in my Lungs there after and exhale but this time in a much more compressed form of chakra followed by vigorous exhalation creating:
Then I concentrate it again and repeat the technique but this time channeling through my hands and legs and I wave them around and I ignite the chakra I release creating Fire streams from my limbs!
I like this one, It helps in my Jyuuken ^^
As the description says, its a more powerful technique than the previous fireball techniques I've learnt and can also aid in Taijutsu by extending my melee range and damage by adding fire streams as I wave my limbs to attack.

Lovely job yet again. Now, what can you tell me about projectiles and what can you tell me about streams? Or, well what are advantages which come when you perform techniques which are projectiles and what are disadvantages? Same question applies to streams.
Projectiles are usually weapons like kunais and shurikens with which you launch towards the opponent to cause damage via their sharply carved ends. Projectile type moves are helpful for a ninja because you can use them to attack long range but the downside is that you are not guaranteed a hit since the opponent is given a little bit of time to evade the incoming projectile depending on its speed and the distance in between you and your opponent and also the opponents speed. Projectile type moves are also fast and can help you out in difficult situations and can be used to blind the opponent.
Streams are continuous and make kind of a long attack as they have fluidic properties. Since they're continuous it also means that you need to constantly fuel the stream-type attack with chakra in order to keep it active. Due to it requiring you to constantly fuel chakra onto the technique, it also prevents you from performing other techniques without stopping the stream-type attack. That is a disadvantage, however there are also some advantages such as being capable of changing the direction in which you're releasing the stream which means it increases the probability of hits via your aided taijutsu. So you have more control over your attack compared to projectile-types that you simply release then have no control over.

Projectiles are techniques that are released from your body,from your mouth,your feet,your fists and so on. Projectiles are blasted off/launched from your body towards the intended target. When it comes to projectiles you gather and release a defined amount of chakra. What is characteristic when it comes to projectiles is that once they leave your body they are no longer tied to your chakra which means that once you release them you can send another technique to follow them (Let's say you send a fire ball towards your opponent and as soon as you release that fire ball from your mouth you send a wind tornado as to make a fire tornado which makes more damage as well as effects bigger area). But not being tied to your own charka comes with an disadvantage. Direction in which they are moving can not be changed unless the technique you use says otherwise. That disadvantage with which they come makes it easier in a way for opponent to counter them. There is one more characteristic attribute to projectiles and that is sending few of them at the intended target. But the bigger the number of projectiles there is the smaller their power as well as size are. But sending more projectiles can make countering of a technique harder. You can send one towards your target's legs and one towards his head. He will have to use a technique that effects a bigger area as to defend from yours.

While in a fight, what would the rankings of items like (the common ones) kunais and shurikens be?
Other than custom weapons, is there a rank list for these items?

Unless it is specified within a specific cw, it would be equal to the damage capable to be made in rl by the same weapon/tool. When I say projectiles, I don't just mean weapons but also technique which are released from ones body once a specific, set in stone amount of chakra has been gathered. The ranking portion is important so you know approximately how much damage would sole projectile make out of many released with the specific amount of chakra used. Makes sense? <.<''
