Adult gaara is stronger than Sasuke. Why?
Well for one, lets analyze gaara's progression in Naruto.
He started out as some emo kid with limited control over his sand abilities.
But as team went on he got stronger and stronger until he was as strong as a jonin level ninja.
At such a young age gaara was powerful. And it's obvious that every time we see gaara he becomes stronger.
My point? My point is that gaara is always buffed by kishi when he is introduced.
That doesn't prove that he can kill sasuke but it definitely means his kage adult form is most likely his prime form so far.
Gaara has tons of control over his abilities. He's smart too.
If he needs to finish sasuke fast he can summon loads of sand to completely swamp the battlefield.
How will sasuke escape something like that? He can't.
He an also counter amaterasu.
And he has shown the ability to fight against susanoo constructs.
Gaara can also pull sasuke out of susanoo so sasuke has no choice but to go Perfect Susanoo
He can easily defeat perfect susanoo
Don't forget that gaara can manipulate millions of tons of sand easily.
Gaara can't lose.
