Certain fandoms always start canon vs fanon debates. Especially over works Kishimoto did not draw himself. Well, here's a definitive answer:

New SJ Podcast, new tidbits. Andy Nakatani, English WSJ’s Editor-in-Chief, returned from his trip to Japan and Jump Festa, where he interviewed Kishimoto.

Bullet points:

Confirmation that his next series will be sci-fi.

Kishimoto said that Boruto will be a legitimate, canon part of the Naruto universe.

As such, Kishimoto is really going to supervise it. “Like, super-supervise it.”

Kishimoto considers the Boruto serial to be just as important as the new manga he’s working on, so in his mind he’s giving them both equal attention.

This is the business world just putting everyone to sleep with a side of milk. He is really trying to emphasize it so people care for it but he isn't going to "Really really supervise it".

Who wants milk? MILK!MILK!MILK!

I feel like Kishi is just slapping the canon label on this, just to make even more money.
Possible.

When it was revealed he wouldn't be drawing the new manga at Jump Festa, many people showed disappointment. He might be trying to alleviate that by showing his full support and stating this is as important as the original manga to him.

About this line.

That mean any writer who write Boruto manga continuation and get supervision from kishi, his/her series is consider as canon to story line right?

Yes. For all intents and purposes, he does consider it to continue the Naruto story line.

This should piss off a lot of 'Kishimoto only' canon purists...wonder if this applies to the new era project in it's entirety.
