It was a comedic gag that I can barely consider cannon. It is meant to be taken as seriously as Sakura knocking Naruto out for a comedic reason. Considering how bad it is to think that Naruto actually missed his Hokage ceremony for such a stupid reason it is better to consider it as simply non cannon comedy.

Agreed. It would be nice to see her grow as a shinobi kinda like Konohamaru. As Boruto grows so will she and maybe even a rivalry between her and her brother since she unlocked her byakugan first.

While it was comical it was canon and possible as Naruto had never seen his daughter with byakugan before and was caught of guard. Once hit his chakra system was shut down and so he slept. Yea it was a stupid yet funny reason but none the less it canonically happened.
