You forgot to mention the most important aspect of why Global Warming is so dangerous. There are over 100,000 gigatons of methane-based carbon under the Arctic Ice (which by the way is melting at a staggering rate). Methane is the strongest greenhouse gases and there is enough of it under the ice to wipe most life on Earth.
Scientists have predicted that if nothing is done about Global Warming within the brief window of opportunity we currently have, then within 50 years or so the planet will become uninhabitable.
Global Warming is no joke.
Yeah, apparently, all of this is a
lulz affair to most people. We live in a age where fuel and mass chemical waste is the key to industrialization. University studies are funded by a lot of fossil fuel agencies, so expecting any decent clear-cut verdict on the situation is a bit of an issue as I have read a couple of really laughable articles where "we are fine ... countless years will take to kill us all" stance is more often, than not, used.
There are large areas of oceans that are literally dead zones. Coral reefs (that support more than one-third of ocean life) are getting affected beyond repair, which would mean mass-extinction of a large portion of ocean floral and fauna in the coming decades. There are many species, right now, who would become virtually extinct in a few decades only. The bio-diversity is at a stake because of the rise in deforestation and continual increase in global population and pollution.
Glaciers are, now, starting to melt, which would cause serious scarcity of pure water as they are literally reservoirs of water. I find it flabbergasting, disgusting and downright cruel how humanity is single-handedly destroying biodiversity and the eco-system at large ... and seems to be either proud or it, or doesn't seem to care.
