No that's not how this works. There is a cap to these bounties and how much you can raise them based on things like this. Little crimes adding up will not raise your bounty this high, not even close.

Taking down entire countries is exactly why he has that bounty, that speaks for his strength, not his ability to kill innocent people. Many people have the ability to go around and kill thousands and thousands of innocent, the WG places a bounty like this so someone really strong would have the motivation to take this man down. And so weaker guys wouldn't even waste their time on people with bounties this high.

You might have had a point up to the 500 million range but even that is a stretch, with a level this high, only your strength could be the reason behind it.

Having countries end up like Zou speaks for his strength. He leaves every place looking like it's been through a drought.

Its a bounty beyond the realm of high tiers, its only something top tiers can touch or even think of trying to cash in on.

Having a certain nature alone can only take you so far, you have to be strong to be able to back your personality up.
Not really. That's just assumption on our part. At the end of the day, it depends on how often you commit crimes, how often these crimes are, and how strong you are. If you build strength, but don't actually do anything to directly harm society, then your bounty will be lower than someone who always commits crimes. That's how bounties always work.

It's not just whether or not you CAN kill innocent people, it's whether or not you DO. If Jack didn't love to destroy and carry out his love by constantly destroying innocents, his bounty wouldn't be close to that high.

Time and time again it's been shown that strength is not a sole deciding factor in bounty by any means. We will never get to a point where someone having a higher bounty will mean they have higher strength. We have seen the standards for growing your bounty, and it is not solely strength.

Why would someone who builds their strength have their bounty increase if all they do is live in a cave and never harms anyone anymore? It'd make no sense to increase his bounty because bounty increases with your immediate and direct threat to society. Therefore, actively committing crimes will increase your bounty proportionate to how intense and frequent these crimes are. That's pretty much common sense.

The point here is that killing innocent and weak civilians will get you so far in a bounty, it will not get you to 1 billion beris though. That comes from being able to defeat all the people strong enough to cash in on lower bounties. Remember how luffy got a huge boost by declaring war on the world gov in enies lobby, well luffy had to have the strength to defeat all those at enies lobby. If jack were to do something similar he would need strength to back it up. A small difference in bounty can be accounted for in defeating innocents civilians, but larger differences must be accounted for by strength because if someone were really strong but was hiding in a cave their bounty would be low because they are also not defeating vice admirals or even admirals or countries of warriors or other pirate crews. It isnt simply killing civs that raises it to 1 billion, its the strength to defeat those who come to punish you for it.

And to expand on this thought. Kidd is a murderer and at saobody has a larger bounty than luffy by 50 million i think. They were of similar strength at the time I would say and even if kidd might be a bit stronger luffys bounty wasnt far off despite luffy not being a murdering pirate. The point being that the difference of 50 million (i think it was) was from the murdering aspect so it was proportionally small.

Never said having a higher bounty = higher strength. Otherwise Dragon would be > WB.

I'm talking about the range of your bounty, always look at range and not the exact bounty.

As for the statement on being a pirate and never causing havoc, that would only be true if the WG never got news of what you did, eventually you are gonna run into someone who the WG knows is of a certain caliber, by defeating this person or even performing well against them, your bounty will go up accordingly.

As an example lets say you never attack any civilians ever, the quietest pirate around, you have never even earned a bounty before and you encounter an Admiral and you handle him decently. Your bounty will skyrocket regardless of all those other factors, because now the WG knows you are a legit threat to them, a force capable of fending off a Marine Admiral.

Only time Bounty is completely irrelevant is when the Marines don't know your strength at all (Teach). If they are aware of you then your bounty is significant, being a threat to the WG without the strength to back it up will not earn you a bounty this high (Nico Robin), being a threat to civilians but not having the strength to be called the Drought will not earn you a bounty this high.

They are aware of Jack, thus his bounty "range" is significant.

That's your assumption. It doesn't make sense to you, but it makes perfect sense to me that killing hundreds of people many times over the course of years is gonna add up.

Actually, they became aware of Teach's strength at Marineford. He was able to clash with Sengoku and Garp, and didn't suffer any extra injuries. His strength was further enhanced by stealing WB's DF and replicating his best feats(such as tilting the entire island and the surrounding ocean and creating tidal waves) with it. He stopped Sengoku's shockwave, which surprised Sengoku himself, with a brand new power. His Yami Yami no Mi is reputed for its power(Ace said he knew very well the power of Darkness, implying the fruit's general strength was known). His bounty increased from 0 to 0.

Are you aware he was a Shichibukai so he wouldn't have a bounty? Even when he brought in Ace he wouldn't necessarily have to have a bounty because he was made a Warlord following this.

When he dropped out of that rank care to tell me how you know he didn't receive a bounty? Cause I'm fairly confident nothing was said about his bounty as of yet.

Teach is a special case, they actually became aware of him after he beat ace but that made him a shichibukai so he had no bounty. Now he is a yonko and his bounty is unkown, his bounty went from 0 to unknown as it hasnt been introduced yet.

ofcourse its a reason for it, but its because of his strength he is able to do those things. So its kinda pointless to point out, its like you are trying to say he cheated his way to that bounty when that can't be the case.

I can guarantee you guys that all Yonko first mates have bounties upwards of 800 million beris.

IF they are indeed not lying about his bounty.
It's not exactly pointless, Kid had a bounty higher than Luffy, even though Luffy had invaded
prisons that were famed for no one escaping, tasks that actually proved his worth as the prisons
had powerful enemies. Though there was really no indication Kidd had ever done anything like that or was even willing, just that he caused a ton of casualties.

There's clearly different methods to gain a higher bounty and casualties is an easy one
that someone like Jack is prone to. Meanwhile something like breaking in and out of prisons
without a doubt shows someone's worth more, for a similar bounty. It doesn't take much strength to prey on ordinary people.

There's also his association with a yonko, anyone who even associated with Luffy when they took out
Doflamingo had their bounties raised by 50 million regardless of their capabilities.

What I'm saying is, his bounty definitely isn't determining his worth.

I'm pretty sure it was said after MF his bounty was zero.

Edit: No wait, his bounty was said to be zero before MF. Still, if it increased, I'm sure it'd have been mentioned during the Gorosei's meeting where they discussed Teach's progress.

Eh, I guess I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong, I just see it more likely to be the other way.

Terrible chapter.

I thought Oda was done with his terrible drawn chars but i guess i was wrong.

Jack has a 1m bounty and is getting whooped like there is no end?

Then there's a break? Why does op go on a break every other week? On top of that there's about to be this big 3week break because of new years and Christmas smhhhhh.

I think thew bounties are a general gauge of strength and using them in combination with feats can give a close to accurate representation of strength at least a preliminary analysis anyways. In jacks case its obvious his bounty is inflated as he is kinda crazy and goes on rampages but I think oda is currently using bounties to hype people. Im sure his strength is beyond luffys currently and I think that is what the bounty is saying.

What I'm saying is, his bounty definitely isn't determining his worth.
1.Were Kidd and Luffy not around the same level regardless? They have been portrayed as around the same level from the start.

2.By association they got a 50 mil raise. Luffy and Law now have a 500 mil bounty those two are the ones that took Doffy down. Which brings me back to the main point, 1 billion is well out of the range of little boosts to do with association making a difference.

3. Luffy broke out of prison after their meeting in Saboady and his bounty was raised immediately following the war hence it was higher than Kidds. And regarding post skip we don't even know what Kidd was doing for him to gain that bounty.

Not to mention breaking out of prison alone is not enough for your bounty to skyrocket to levels where you want it to be. He fought Magellan, Magellan and others in MF were witnesses to his current strength, he did not deserve a bounty any higher than he got. Simple as that. Now if he had broken out of the prison and defeated Magellan in the process or even put up a fight, then you would have a point.

@Riker

Teach's bounty just wasn't disclosed to us.

No, it doesn't. By this logic, pre-skip Luffy and Kid>Doffy. Strength is never a sole deciding factor.

That's the point. Bounties aren't reliable.
But in only very specific cases that are well defined are they not reliable. They aren't perfectly accurate as in the case of soabody luffy and kidd as they were likely equal even though kidd had a higher bounty. But as the gaps get bigger in bounty we can see a definite trend of larger bounty is stronger.

I've explained it above, if the government knows about your capabilities then it is fairly reliable. You can't use characters who's bounties are halted nor characters who are not known to the government to back a point up.

Something like Caribou would have better sufficed but even that has a bit of an explanation behind it.

hence bounty "range" .
