" This will be our final battle. "

This very fight has been the main focus of so many discussions and debates, and even before this we were discussing this battle for years. Yet, people make this fight out to be that of a blunt fight instead of a message, which it comes more off as to me. People debate whenever or not who won, who is stronger and so on. Now to satisfy that I will have a section dedicated to "who on" but it will be small. The main point of this thread is to analyze the "message" this fight gives.

Equally Matched
Reading over the fight I find it even more funny how people try to state that either did better than the other or that either one is stronger than the other. If you read it over again, then you may notice something. Naruto and Sasuke are equally matched in the form that they both attack just as often as the other. If Sasuke attacks, then Naruto will respond with an attack of his own or a defensive move to block it and the other way around. Even more interesting is one thing that Kishimoto portrayed with this fight, and that was their equality in terms of combat.

Their fight starts and ends in the same manner and in the middle they do the same as they start of with, their attacks meet each other, or rather their fists do. Allow me to illustrate my point with this "timeline" like photo.

Another funny fact is that they clash a total of four times during the fight, which if divided by two (the amount of combatants in the fight) gives us a equal number on both sides (two). There are other possible ways to view these clashes as well. In the first clash, their hands are away from each other, in the second they bump into each other, in the third they open up towards each other and in the fourth and last one they reach out for each other.

Take these clashes and their counter-attacks/attacks into the counting, then they were equally matched throughout the entire fight. This is further shown by the end of the fight after the last clash, in which they both lose their respective arm and they are both laying down, unable to move and are bleeding out. The fact that they are equal are also supported by Hagoromo's words, as they are the reincarnation of his sons, Indra and Ashura. In Hagoromo's tale it is implied that the two fought to the death and that their bodies were destroyed. (Making the two brothers equal.)

What Powers Were Used?
Now this is were all the debating and arguing comes into play, what powers did each of the two shinobi use and were either one cheating in some way? The answer is that they both used up all of their power and then some and neither cheated beyond that point. Though here is a list of the primary power they used;

Sasuke
  • Yin Chakra (Hagoromo, also includes Rinnegan.)
  • Bijuu Chakra
  • Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan

Naruto
  • Yang Chakra (Hagoromo, also includes Rikudou Senjutsu.)
  • Bijuu Chakra
  • Kurama's Senjutsu Chakra

You can make the argument that Sasuke used more Bijuu chakra than Naruto did, but you must also remember that not only is this one of his Rinnegan abilities but Naruto also naturally has more chakra than Sasuke. (Taking the Bijuu out of the calculations then Sasuke could have stolen a waste majority of Naruto's chakra instead.) If you took them out of the calculation then Sasuke would also gain more chakra and more focus as he was using Genjutsu to suppress the Bijuu as well as maintaining nine Chibaku Tensei cores at the same time. (Something Nagato stated was a jutsu that took a good amount of chakra and left a physical strain on the user, and that was with only one.)

The point here is, people try to take things out of a fight instead of viewing the fight as it is. To cut it short, they both used all the powers they had at the time, and nothing was left. As for who won? Neither, they neither lost or won. They clocked out as equals and during their entire fight they were completely equal.

So what message does the fight give? Cos what you typed was more like battle analysis except of course you're saying that the message is that they're equal.

I was trying to be discreet with it... The entire purpose of the fight was to show that they are equal, that Yin and Yang are equal in the end, and if put together a miracle may happen but if they are separated then the opposite will happen. It also portrays their struggle and friendship.

Exactly what part was nerfed about either one of them or both?

They have always been and always will be equal. The only reason an author allows two characters to be equal is so fans will argue about this stuff for many years and keep the series alive.

Naruto never used Tajuu Kage Bunshin like what he did to Kaguya to test Sasuke's battle prowess and solution making. What is the point he using Kurama Avatar clones after Sasuke absorb Bijju chakra?

If Naruto use many clones and Sasuke can handle them all very well, we can easily get the picture how great is Sasuke battle skill and power and Sasuke can test Naruto with his Rinnegan tech

This fight slacking alot. I think it better for them to faught in Taijutsu only from start to finish like DBZ. Throwing massive jutsus wont help us to find the conclusion.

Didnt read. Vote 2 Naruto > vote 2 Sasuke . One fact that author never portrayed them equals in canon should tell you something.

Naruto went full power also. Intent to kill means nothing went he used his most powerful jutsu.

Yeap. The fact that we've never seen their "real," second fight proves that Kishi isn't interested in showing who's stronger. They are always going to be equal.

See, what's funny is that I'm pretty sure that was not his most powerful jutsu. He could have sent out all elemental rasenshurikens and that would have been his most powerful jutsu. Not just a measly two
