If you fight Hidan Anywhere that he cant draw the ritual, then he's useless. This includes fighting him by a waterfall. Or in the ocean. Or the sand. Or Grass. Or anywhere that isn't the convenient locations he's been given to fight with.

A quick genjutsu isn't much of a hard time, in Sasuke's case.


And it's not hard to work out he has immortality once a shinobi "fatally wounds" him and he doesn't die.

That's true but for any strong shinobi, he's easy to beat either way. And for fodder shinobi, aka
the majority of NV, then his ritual is unnecessary since he outcombats them anyways. If you really
think about it, any time he used the ritual in combat, he could've won without it anyways so it makes no difference.

Hidan would only be OP if partnered with someone else OP. For example, if he chilled far away while Madara
fought Hashirama, and then Madara ran from the fight and brought a blood sample with him, then Hidan can kill Hashirama for
Madara like that. But as a fighter himself, his ritual is useless, just his good taijutsu and kenjutsu + immortality
that helps him along.

His ultimate is one of the most fearsome that unless you have time and a great mind like Shikamaru and ofc sacrifice to able to know the secret behind it.

Akatsuki needed some weird, unique characters because they were all shady and whatnot, so Kishi came up with that duo.
The shitty straw was handed out to Hidan, turning him into a classic one-trick pony act.

So yeah, Hidan sucked but he was entertaining.

Everybody in Akatsuki was meant to be unique, unlike the rest though Kishi himself admits to being rushed with Hidan, so he didn't get all the abilities he wanted Hidan to have. Hidan was originally intended on having genjutsu and some elements like Dot on. (not sure on the elements part)

I just wonder if Kishi thought about it and tried to set a battle in the grass and realized it. Or did the Creation of Akatsuki movie take it into account.

Nah, it doesnt matter once the character is created. The seal is drawn on the ground in his style and the ground is just something to write the seal on it. He can just write the seal on his booty or wrap the seal on his body and the problem will be solved.
