Why in the hell would he want to hit Sasuke directly with Amaterasu when his goal was NOT to kill him or seriously injure him? You do remember the important fact that Itachi fought to DIE AT SASUKE'S HAND. Direct hit= Sasuke gets seriously injured or dies.

You can clearly see that Itachi spawned the flame AWAY from Sasuke and then chased him with it instead of spawing it where Sasuke was.

I don't think Hebi Sasukes moveset is going to bother Kage summit sasuke from a distance. Most of Hebi Sasukes moveset that doesn't involve snakes MS Sasuke can react to and counter without Susanoo.
