This is what i believe but hasn't been fully covered in the manga. It's a theory.
The deal with Sage Mode: Sage Mode collects nature energy. There is only one type of nature energy so I believe all sage modes are the same, just tought in different places.
Onto the bijus powers:
Shukaku: All biju are made out of chakra completely, except for shukaku, who happens to be sand, because of this he can't be defeated unless sealed or outlasted. On top of that he has seals on his body that he can manipulate via magnet release (I also believe Magnet Release is how they move sand but that hasn't been confirmed). He can also use Tbb. Shukaku can also use wind release techniques.
Matatabi: Has Blue Fire as fur. Hotter than any other fire besides amaterasu and enton. It can produce this fire and extend its claws. It can also use its fire in the shape of mice that act like homing missles, along with the tbb.
Isobu: Can use water techniques. Can create coral, coral acts like the non cannon crystal release. When touch directly coral can grow off the users body, immobilizing anyone as strong maybe even stronger and less than KCM Naruto. It also has a hard shell that he uses to roll into a ball to bash opponents. He can also use Tbb
Son Goku: He's shown to use lava techniques that rivaled kisames large water techniques implying he can create mini lakes of lava, along with being able to manipulate the lava beneath earths crust and cause it to erupt. He can also use tbb.
Kokuo: Has the ability to use boil release: Steam enhanced strength. He's able to use boil release to boil the chakra in him till it starts evaporting, causing steam to appear. This gives kokuo unmatched strength by anyone besides the jubi and anyone stronger. He can also use Tbb.
Saiken: Saiken can create alkaline acid and mist. The mist strong enough to evaporate trees in an instant, and the liquid strong enough to badly damage gyukis hand. Saiken seems to have a weak body but is still made completely of chakra and possess a stronger body than v2 beast mode. (totsuka blade is a variant of the kusanagi sword as stated by the databook, and the kusanagi blade couldn't pierce v2 Naruto, so totsuka isn't piercing any biju.) can use Tbb.
Chomei: Can fly and can produce scale powder. Scale powder creates light powerful enough to blind opponents and cancel out their hearing. This gives chomei, with the flight, a opportunity to hit while not being detected (unless its a sensor). Can use tbb.
Gyuki: Can produce ink that can permanently bind an opponent if it sits on them for a certain amount of time. This can also be used as a blinding attack. Can use tbb.
Kurama: I use to believe the BM cloak was because it was only half of Kurama, (but I now believe that if you get a little bit of chakra sealed into you than it will grow to full strength and be the full tailed beast, as seen in Naruto where he had full tailed beasts but only received a fraction of their chakra. Chakra also regenerates unless being depleted completely, but their is only one original. So I believe Naruto had full powered Kurama always.) because of that I believe the BM cloak is just a chakra avatar granted by Kurama, that's his ability. He can also sense negative emotions and heal any wound instantly.(hasn't been shown to regenerate.) can use tbb.
Jubi: Can use Mokuton and tbb. Can regenerate and create mini clones if itself.
Now RSM is required by having all of the bijus chakra at once, as seen when Madara absorbed the biju and Naruto got each of the bijus chakra, but theirs a difference between the two.
Having the Jubi gives you RSM, but also grants mokuton. You can fly and use tsb. You acquire instant regeneration along with the ability to sense hate in someone. Also gives you sensory.
Having each separate biju allows you to use all their seperste powers, but can't use mokuton. You can use lava, shukaku seals, blue fire, scale powder, ink, coral, water, steam enhancement, alkaline acid, along with flight and tsb. You also get to keep kuramas avatar as seen with ashura and Naruto. Just in a stronger scale. Provides instant regeneration and the ability to sense hate in someone. Also gives you sensory.
