Kishi only does this to entertain pairings fans longer because the Gaiden was hyped to cater to them. The best way to keep that large impressionable fanbase active is to keep trolling them until the end. Keep them arguing with each other as well and for the most part I can see a large portion of the NDS has fallen for Kishis bait.
