I used to be pro-choice but after extensive thinking im pro-life. Put yourselves in the baby's shoes if you hadn't even had a chance to live, you wouldn't be able to impact people's life. That's just how I feel. That baby can grow up and change the way the world looks at certain topics, the possibilities are endless. If you give it up for adoption, at least it'll still have some control over the direction of its life, it can choose to be a college scholar or a bum, but if you abort it all those possibilities are deminished.

Pro life, unless the mother's life is in jeopardy; in which case I'm pro choice because the death of the mother will have a larger impact on others compared to a baby that's not even born yet.

Pro-Choice.
It's their own decision.

The only negative thing I can think of is, if the man wants the baby he can't do anything to stop the woman.

Did you or I choose what foods we were fed as an infant, or even as a child of ten years old?

Did you or I have any choice what language our parents would teach us?

Did you or I have any choice what type of home we would live in? If we even had a home to live in?

The child is not at all relevant to discuss as an independent being with rights within a legal context.

In a moral context - I agree that a child should be seen as being the succeeding will of the parent - the chance to live on and survive.

However, within a legal context of what types of choices and behavior should be selected for punishment - the child cannot be considered an independent being with an independent will or even independent rights.

If it is a child's right to live - then why can't a child also have other legal rights to choices - or protections from a parent's choice?

Can a child be brought to Church? I mean... you're kind of 'forcing' that on a child, aren't you? Maybe the kid doesn't want to be Christian.

Maybe the kid wants to believe in a God. Can you be held liable if you are caught teaching your kid that belief in God(s) is rubbish?

I am the opposite.

I used to be "pro life" until I thought about things.

The first thing I had to realize is that what I think is right/wrong is not the same as what should be right/wrong according to the laws of a nation. I believe a lot of things are wrong that are and should be perfectly legal choices.

Within the "what about the child" argument - my response is:

What about any child? What choices did I get in regards to my life? I was nearly stillborn - born two months premature in the 80s. It was by the bleeding edge of medical technology I was allowed to live. It was because my mother and father -wanted- me to live. They -wanted- a child. My father divorced his first wife after Vietnam because he realized he wanted children. He married his second wife because she lured him in with promises of raising a family and then split for the child support when he adopted her daughter. He married my mother and finally got the relationship he was looking for - but they had to fight tooth and nail to bring me into this world.

My brothers were both born considerably easier.

So, no - I don't buy the argument that there is some kind of "what about the child" that is relevant, here.

What about the child? It has absolutely no choice or right in the matter.

Should a child be treated as precious? Yes.

Should a child be given every chance to prosper and succeed? Yes.

Can I realistically punish anyone and everyone who doesn't make the choices I believe they should make? No.

I always found it funny that the same politicians that are pro-life, also stop caring about the child after it is born. They'll make abortion illegal, but at the same time cut funding for welfare and schools. No child deserves to be born into a situation where they are unwanted. No one should be forced to have an abortion and no one should be forced to give birth. I'm pro-choice

Personally as a christian... Lol jk

But seriously, i dont agree with it if it has to do with a bad choice or decision and all that bull crap about being ready mentally, blah blah blah. Especially if it happens to a couple that doesn't have the money to raise the child, which really pisses me off. But I can come to understand if someone got raped.

What people fail to realize is that abortions caused by rape and incest are less than 1% of all abortions. The "rape abortion" is overplayed. Does it happen? Sure. Is it so common to where it should define your perspective? No. Not at all.

Pro-choice.

The laws that get passed by pro-lifers are vile, inhumane things. Plain and simple: they torture women. Where medically necessary abortions are illegal, women die. I don't give a **** anymore: if you aim to restrict abortion, you are the murderer.

There are also people who are disturbed by aborting a fetus that could grow up to be a child. I understand that, and in the scale of things, it can seem depressing. But, if you want to reduce abortions, encourage and fund *** ed (apparently this is severely lacking in America, which boggles my mind) and contraceptives, because this reduces accidental pregnancies. Be supportive of those that keep children or adopt them out. No one should have to experience unplanned pregnancies.

Of course the crazies I hear about online aren't swayed by logic and don't care about babies at all. It's about punishing women.

Depressing thought: My cousin's cat. which had to have it's kittens removed before being desexed, has more rights than some women.

Pro-Choice. In most abortion cases it's not even a human yet. I love the argument that people use saying the baby could be the next Albert Einstein. On the other side of that same coin, the baby could be the next .

I don't see why people have to put their religious beliefs onto other people. Christians(I don't mean to pick on Christians, I'm using them as an example considering they have the loudest voice in this argument) love to tell people what they can and can't do, yet when they look over in the middle east they condemn Muslims for their beliefs. Why does one family have the right to tell another family what to do with their bodies and children? Leave it to choice and that way everyone can have their own opinion and mind their own business.

The only time I am for it is when they are raped, otherwise use contraception(and properly) if you don't want to have kids. :|
So if two poor people have *** with protection and they still have a child, they just have to keep it? Live with their 'mistake' and bring a child into a world where they are barely surviving? That's so inhumane and ridiculous Lol.

It comes to down to responsibility. If a couple wants to engage in sexual intercourse then they need to practice the proper responsibilities to prevent conception from happening. Even if something happens (i.e., vasectomy didn't fully take, condom breaks, pill was ineffective) then it still falls under the responsibility of the couple to continue with the pregnancy and aftercare (I'm a big supporter of adoption).

It's like if someone is driving a car, something happens, and they get into a car accident. They murder the person they hit and drive off without assuming the responsibility. Sure, it's a choice, but in abortion there's no legal responsibility for that choice; it's actually supported.

It's difficult to support it legally if you don't support it morally. This is different from a question of homosexuality, because it actually involves hurting people. Often the father's don't get a say in the decision. Many mothers suffer from psychological trauma after getting an abortion (they are hardwired by millions of years of evolution to birth and raise children). Freedom of choice is good, but there is a lot more choice that is involved in carrying and birthing the child. It is so difficult for many people to adopt. Even if you don't want your child, someone else will. I'm not even going to get started on aborting fetuses because it is an unfavorable gender.

I would be anti abortion if the girl could stay out of my life for those 9 months and then put the baby up for adoption instead of killing it.

He rise of the "pro-choice" stance is a remarkable indicator of the degradation of morals, ethics and principles brought on by secular liberalism.
