It will all be clear, at the moment of one's death no matter what they choose to believe while alive, that which they have been denying. And as we all know by then its all too late.

Being gay is not a thing really, but another way of defiance an individual adopts and rolls with it....such union produce nothing but weirdness. In my opinion must be avoided at all cost!
Sure Jan.
No I respect you opinion, I just thought it was funny that you said you found gays disgusting but lesbians are alright to watch Lol.
Would you be saying the same if he had said he would enjoy having a naked woman with him, but wouldn't enjoy a naked man with him?

I don't even understand why this is such a huge topic.

I believe in marriage equality. If you don't like gay marriage that's okay but don't push your views on everybody else. Your beliefs shouldn't dictate other people lives.

It's like me saying I hate peanuts so nobody else can have them.

It's a political issue; of course it can be pushed on other people.
Say 51% of your nation's parliament vote yes to a tax reform that set the median income tax at about 99%. The remaining 49% of the parliament are neo-liberal and basically hate the reform. Still, they pay up, 'cause that's democracy.
You may not like the laws of your country, but you have to follow them because they are, well, laws. If you don't like them you can seek reform, but you've got to respect the law regardless.

This political issue is so insignificant. Most of the arguments against it are biased and can be debunked easily.

This argument can be used against you. Why do you have to push your view of gay marriage on people who don't like it? Why should they be forced to vote on the topic? Just because you want gay marriage doesn't mean everyone wants it.

To be honest, I think they should get married. I would however, be slightly uncomfortable with PDA. However, it is something I would adjust to. I am learning more and more tolerance each day for something that I think is silly to be a sin in our world. I figure that most gay people I have met have been good people, and have not been hit on more than once. There are straight people that are bad, and two bad straight people who hate each other can legally marry whereas two good gay people who love each other cannot in most states.

AND I'm Arab-American Muslim. Get that.

It shouldn't really matter if you want to or not. Of course no one should force you to vote, but this is something that goes beyond just you. You have the power to create a change that will affect millions of people's lives, both current and future, for the better. To not do so because you don't want to or don't want gay marriage is such a selfish mentality. It's not about you, it's about the millions of people you'd be doing something good for, but your valuing your desire to not click an option on a webpage or check a box on a sheet of paper, or the fact that you don't want gay marriage, something that won't negatively impact your life in any way, over the betterment of millions of lives.

Stuff like tax reform effects everyone so there should be a voting system for that because it is about country and everybody's lives.

Same *** marrige is about personal life and individual legal matters just like another marrige; it concerns people themselves. About 90% of people are estimated to be straight they would not be involved in same *** marrige with their own consent, it is not about their lives directly.

That's not the point. If a majority of the citizens - and by extension their representatives - feel that their country is not ready to legalize gay marriage then they have legitimate political authority to maintain the status quo.
Social issues have always been an issue. You may feel that everyone should have the right to solicit prostitutes, or that abortion should be legal. You may even consider these things human rights, but that does not make your fellow nationals agree with you. Democracy works that way and of course they can 'push their view on you' on a political level.

So people should not interfere or vote on issues that do not touch their lives directly? I'm no fisherman, but I'd feel that a major fishing reform concerns me. I don't solicit prostitutes, but I would most certainly vote on the issue and expect my representative in parliament to do the same.
Social issues are often moral issues. You can call opponents of gay marriage reactionaries, or conservatives, or whatever if it pleases you; but they have a right to their opinion and if a majority supports them they have a right to make the decision. That's democracy. Strictly speaking; their arguments do not matter so long as a majority are in agreement with them.

@bold, but not everyone believes that. Not everyone agrees that allowing gay marriage will make our country a better place, considering that is completely subjective.. I do not personally believe that I was simply playing devil's advocate.

While you may think it's for the better others will not, if anyone decides not to vote they shouldn't be held accountable for it.
And for those that vote against it have their reasons that are just as justifiable to them as it is for people that vote for it.

I would not vote for it because I'm not for Gay rights. I also wouldn't vote against it because it doesn't affect me in a negative way I just don't like it

Exhibit A, look at this guy. He'd deny people their rights based on something he knows won't have a negative effect based solely because he "doesn't like it." Just a couple decades ago, there were people saying the same thing about women voting. Go back some more decades, guess who they were talking about the same way?

It's not about whether or not you like it. How you feel doesn't ****ing matter. All that matters is, are we making the world a better place for a group of people? Yes. Will there be large-scale negative effects to humanity as a whole? I'd love for you to point out how Danny, Dave, Alex and Their getting married will **** up the country further.

Not so long ago

People didn't want integrated school, bathrooms or anything

People didn't what interracial marriage

People didn't want women rights like voting

People didn't want the apartheid to end

People didn't want slavery to end

People didn't want India to be free of Britain

A lot of people didn't want something. That dosen't mean what other people want should be effected by biased opinions. Maybe because its their job. Why dose a judge have to sit in court and listen to the defense attorney trying to make up excuses for their client when the jury had already made their verdict?

Yes look at this guy get insulted for giving his honest opinion..
I don't have to vote, beauty of freedom.
I'm not denying their right, they can do whatever they want to do for all I care. I'm just not for it.
I'm not going to vote for something that I don't like and doesn't benefit me and I won't vote against it because I have nothing against them. How I feel on the subject matters to me to more than anything else because I put myself before everything and anything else.
And the whole making the world a better place is completely subjective.
