Wrong. Madara did not absorb the Amaterasu, he just removed his armor that burning. Both manga and anime proofed that.

Meh. I don't think it's overrated or underrated simply because it wasn't used that much. If we got better examples of what it could after Naruto mastered it, then I think it can be judged fairly.

Don't you think you're missing out something? First, the fire style justu used against Naruto, Great Fire Annhillation is an offensive justu which is way stronger than the defensive justu (wasn't actually directed at Sasuke but was used to impede the sharingan's vision inorder to escape) Hiding in ash justu used against Sasuke kun.
Secondly Sasuke's chakra is also fire natured meaning he can better withstand fire style justus than a wind style user whose chakra would only strengthen the effect of the fire.(just as it was seen during kakashi vs kakuzu).
