My argument for IT is that it stops famine, disease, and death by being connected to the God tree. The happy dream aspect just makes people's time in the cocoons pleasant is the way I see it.

To be fair, Obito as Tobi did a poor job at selling at the idea at the Kage Summit. Excluding details of the Jutsu and causing unnecessary deaths like killing the Jins when all he needed was pieces of the tailed beast.

The people elected the gokage and none of them appeared to have any qualms over fighting Madara who had already once tried to destroy the world. And the Kages weren't about to sacrifice Naruto or Bee or give absolute power over the world to the real tyrant lols.
