No Gudoddamas are not Black rods . He used Black rod on Sakura to disrupt Chakra pathway of the System.

i guess the user has to flick a kill switch on to do actual damage with them.
But yeah they serve a pretty basic function if the user so chooses, they can be used for offense and defense and say to create a whole dimension, also they can be used as a bomb they are essential the manifestation of limitless possibility.

He made his way in Gedo and out through Madara when being applied to white zetsu.

Sakura is not ninjutsu, the TSB rod in this case just did regular damage, obliterating body tissue upon contact which sakura out healed.

I think gudoudama is the purest form/source of chakra or something of that form, thats why it has negating properties, much like a pencil which is the source of a drawing has the power of also erasing it. But the pencil has no power of erasing say a pen marks which in this case would be senjutsu.

Oh the spiral zetsu guy came from the god tree, he can only survive independently when the Gedo mazou is around.

If not, his only means of surviving is from eating life energy from a human being (Obito and Yamato).
