Why do religious people feel the need to shove their beliefs down people's throats?

They don't have to do it so rudely. What do they hope to accomplish? The purpose of an argument/debate is to persuade and change someone's mind or at least make them see from a different perspective. Why do religious people feel the need to shove their beliefs down people's throats?

Yeah, but most of the time you should ask "Do you have a moment to hear about our Lord and Savior?" making it a polite way to ask if they want to hear about your beliefs rather than just simply imposing them on someone. As a Christian, I am supposed to tell other people about Christ and what He has done because that is what He told us to do.
That's not all. They also try to tell other people how to live their lives when in fact they are living the exact same way as non-Christians are.Why do religious people feel the need to shove their beliefs down people's throats?
People don't have to be religious to shove their beliefs down other's throats. You can notice it everyday from all kinds of people, religious or not. Religion is not the issue. Why do religious people feel the need to shove their beliefs down people's throats?

hoe about gods, do you believe in anyone of those?Because it is funny!
Just kidding, I personally do not believe in any religion (I am Agnostic) however I certainly do not condemn those who do. While I don't agree with the concept of a religion I can see why one would and thus I do not bash religion in any case.
what annoys me is that they reach about how people should act and then go off and do the bad things they told you not to do... you ask them how they could do that wont they go to hell an they say "no god will forgive me if I ray to him" (not exactly tat but basically what they say) that's one reason why I became atheist... I cant follow a god that is willing to forgive those that disobey his rules countless times, simply because they ask for it.That's not all. Who are they to tell other people how they should live their life? Since when was their word law?
Isn't that the same thing with any type of person? They tell you not to do something and yet they do it anyway. That's not exclusive to religious people.what annoys me is that they reach about how people should act and then go off and do the bad things they told you not to do... you ask them how they could do that wont they go to hell an they say "no god will forgive me if I ray to him" (not exactly tat but basically what they say) that's one reason why I became atheist... What does it matter what others believe in? As long as they are happy and aren't affecting your lives or the lives of others negatively, then there is no reason to do that because we all live and exist in this world striving for happiness anyways; we just have different ways of achieving it.
I like this part. Have been observing this too. Humans always tend to feel superiority belonging to the "better" group and always forget in first place that humanity and being human is what bounds them.the sense of superiority and righteousness. Even for believers, they think they are right. They can not ignore each other, eventually they clash.
Most people who are atheist do the same. They don't even know the science behind their beliefs and instead just regurgitate one comment from Stephen Hawking or what some other scientist said because they are deemed "smart" and don't actually take the effort to read into quantum physics or anything else as to why Stephen Hawking believes in what he does.Because they portray their beliefs, which is faith without evidence, as fact. But the real reason people get aggitated is the confidence that religious people bring, acting like they know the truth and as if there is no discussion possible. It's hilarious on one side but painfully irritating and contradicting on the other.
