I do not usually post complaining threads on NB but here it goes:
I can definely see why people have problems with/dislike the war arcs. They are riddled with story issues and let downs and I will get to my own at the end.
I will go through Part 1-Shippuden, and post story problems or let downs the other arcs have had versus their awesome events. I will NOT cover every single arc
Zabuza Arc - This arc is a very fantastic one but I do have one complaint: 1. You would think a man (Haku) moving so fast that he seems like he is everywhere at once with his Ice Mirror technique, would be hard as crap to stop, NOPE, just use a sliver of Kurama's chakra = Victory.
Skipping ahead to:
Naruto v. Gaara - I'm sorry but I have been wondering this for years: How does a transformation into Kurama, without all the chakra, possibly beat a full fledged Bijuu with Jin. In Shippuden this takes an Akatsuki level person to do.
You can say: "He had no practice with it," but it wasn't Gaara in control! It was the one tailed beast Shukaku!
Naruto v. Kabuto - This has more to do with a story error than a problem with the fight: How does Naruto use Rasengan after only a week...it is very awesome don't get me wrong...but I understand that he is a Jin, but that extra chakra is not what helped him. They didn't say that at least. Perhaps I'm wrong on this one, but it always seemed wrong.
Naruto v. Sasuke - This battle was amazing, but this problem lies within the fanbase and it's interpretation of the fight.
According to a lot of threads I have read in the years I have been on the base (even before I was a member) the fight has always been "Does this mean that Sasuke was stronger?" You guys do realize that Naruto scratched his headband on purpose because Sasuke said Naruto would never be able to scratch his headband. To this day, it annoys me when I see a thread saying "Sasuke was way stronger in part 1" when it was Sasuke = Naruto.
Shippuden Time:
Sakura and Chiyo v. Sasori: Poor Sasori, he has such a bad reputation here on the base. The fanbase sometimes calls him "The worst Akatsuki member because he was defeated by Sakura and Chiyo."
First of all, Sasori is no where near weak, however the manga would have you believe that he is. Keep in mind whenever you watch the fight again:
1. Sakura and Chiyo are not weak by any means of the word. 2. He has defeated kage level enemies so it does feel dumb that he was defeated by seemingly less powerful enemies. 3. It was two against one, if it was Sasori v. Sakura/Chiyo, they would lose.
Sasuke v. Deidara - How in the world does Sasuke survive? I love Sasuke and I understand he is very intelligent, but there is no way that he had enough chakra to summon a giant snake when the man could barely move and was hit with a giant explosion.
Sasuke v. Itachi - I LOVE this fight. It was all I was hoping for and more...except for one thing...Kishimoto had to make Itachi sick in order for Sasuke to win. Why was this necessary? I know Itachi is incredibly powerful, but come on! That made Sasuke seem so much weaker than he was!
He could have just summoned Itachi during war arc like he did and make Itachi say : "I held back because I still loved my brother," and I would much rather have that than "He was sick"
Naruto v. Pain - This is my favorite fight in the series, I have watched it over and over and over again, but there are several problems with it, well I'm sure there is more, but I will just talk about one that I had even after the first time watching it:
Why did Minato have to be summoned? Wouldn't have been so much more effective if their conversation happened during the war arc whenever he was summoned by Sasuke? We had no way of knowing that was going to happen, but Kishimoto knew. He has stated several times he knew how everything was going to end.
Wouldn't it have shown Naruto's growth if he refused Kurama after he went into that deformed Kurama and proved to Pain, himself, and to his friends, that he would never let anything hurt his friends, even his own power, just to stop an enemy? It would've been much more effective.
Sasuke v. Danzo - Wow, two complaints and i really HATE these ones. First of all, Sasuke during this fight and especially right afterwards against Team 7, is a complete psychopath...and I LOVED IT. I loved how crazy this once calculating and quiet man just went insane with revenge. It was interesting and so much fun to watch, but suddenly once it was over, it was just...gone. As if it never happened.
I'm not against either form of Sasuke but, if you are going to do an insane Sasuke: GO ALL OUT WITH IT. If your just going to make him insane for a few chapters, then it makes him look VERY STUPID.
Also, I'm not against giving Danzo the sharingan but, why was it his main form of attack and defense. That was extremely lame. "I am in danger, better use Izanagi! Also, I will spam it until it is annoying." He was on the same team as Hiruzen! You would think he knows much more jutsu than the few he did show. Danzo was a great character, but he was an extremely boring fighter.
Now I will acknowledge my problems with the war arc v. everyone's problems.
Naruto transforming into Nine Tails Chakra mode was cool and all, but why did it have such a huge time limit when Bijuu Mode/Kurama Link Mode have a starting time limit of 5 Minutes?
Kabuto summons the most famous ninja in history, however doesn't summon all of the past kage, or at least didn't explain why he didn't. You think that would make the war more interesting and harder for the Shinobi Alliance to overcome but, no, he summons four previous kage, and Hanzo from the Rain Village.
The Seven Ninja Swordsmen were mostly defeated off-screen/panel, that was extremely lame.
The White Zetsu army was used horribly within the manga. The anime displayed their abilities better and made them seem much more of a threat, but those were mostly filler! Sasuke, according to the manga, defeated most of the White Zetsu left single handedly.
Sasuke and Itachi v. Kabuto - "Hey Sasuke, I have this complicated jutsu that will give us victory in this battle with no explanation of how it works until it is used already and as a bonus, Danzo never knew about this jutsu, even though they share a similar name and history together." Oh, and the explanation received it's own chapter.
Tobi = Obito:
I have no problems with this event called "The lowest point in the manga where everything afterwards is now terrible."
Except this: Tobi...Bito...plus o = Obito...obvious reveal is obvious.
Naruto and Sasuke v. Juubito: "Oh no, we are now fighting an enemy that can't be defeated! All hope is lost!" "Oh, wait! We have the main characters! We are all ok! Because a half bijuu and a Sharingan user was all we needed to win!"
Kaguya is the worst villian ever. Like, I'm not even kidding. I did not like Kaguya at all, I didn't like her design, her powers, her childish means of battle strategy, he dependency of Black Zetsu, nor her motivation for needing a White Zetsu army, oh wait, WE DON'T KNOW WHY.
Kakashi with a Perfect Susano'o...it is BS but...it is a guilty pleasure. I love this, but I acknowledge it is total bull.
You know what the biggest crime of the War Arc was? Why it does have the most problems? It is the longest of them all. No other arc is as long as the war arc when it comes to Naruto standards. So it will, no matter what, have the most problems.
In Conclusion:
I think the hatred of the War Arc is understandable but I think it has gotten out of hand. Not counting Izanami and Kaguya, I couldn't think of issues I had with it that the manga hasn't somewhat made before: Lame characters, Lame power - ups, plotholes, etc., but you know what, I still LOVE THE WAR ARCS AND NARUTO AS A SERIES. You can't judge an entire series based on the problems it had in one or two sub arcs. You know what this arc did give us?
Madara Uchiha
The previous Kages and Hokages in their glory
Sasuke Uchiha is a good guy again (for now?)
Hogoromo and the background of the Sage(s) of the Six Paths
Closure for Sasuke Uchiha and his brother
It finally opened peoples eyes of the good that the Jinjuriki can give to the world.
It has shown us the fights we wanted to see for years!
We had Hashirama and Tobirama stand on the same battlefield as Minato and Hiruzen
We saw the death of a ninja that a lot of us loved (Neji)
We saw eight gates Might Guy!
The War Arc may not be the best Arc nor it's sub arcs, but it is not like it never gave us anything! I will continue to love the war arcs, despite their problems. Draw your own conclusion, and tell me how you stand on them. I totally understand if you are not in favor of the war arcs
I want to hear all positive/negative opinions
