Yes Sasuke leaving the village was a crime but the circumstances he was groing through was to be leading up to his destiny. So if someone were to leave a village to seek power to destroy evil, they have to be detained? Even if they do decide to take Sasuke into cutody after the war, its not like they will truly understand why he did the activities, to get where he is now... It's not fair for them to decide on the punishment when they havent seen it through his eyes. Besides everything he engaged in was for a good cause and the hatred interfered.

Also, I still don't understand why Sakura wanted to keep Sasuke from leaving the village.
She was like the only person who tried to intervene...
Sasuke has told team 7 from the beginning that his number 1priority was to kill Itachi, and they were like "eh, ok.." So why all of a sudden Tsunade sends a squad to retrieve him, and in Shippuden she sends even more! What does he have to do with you guys. He was going to return after the battle with Itachi. It is not their business, and he is an Uchiha. Whatever happened to villagers being satisfied with the extinction of Uchihas???

This is a Shounen Manga, meaning it primarily embodies positive themes.. If they punish Sasuke for everything he's done before then the manga will turn into something completely outside the realm of positivity that redemption exists.

Sasuke being killed, dying at anytime during their youth, or punished for his past crimes is nothing but a sorry dream for some.
