Why are power levels so inconsistent?

I'm not saying I have a problem with it but after seeing how strong some characters become the rest seem like weaklings. For example Naruto and Sasuke have gotten so strong that people like the Hokages seem like they wouldn't stand a chance. The same goes for Bleach that I'm not even sure who can defeat who. So why do you think that these animes don't have a consistent power level where any character can defeat another through training and hard work. Would it make the series better or worse? And I'm not just talking about these two in particular. There are others like Dragonball Z and even HunterxHunter( only the Ant King and Adult Gon seemed to powerful).

I think that shows would be a lot better with a constant power level. I know that there has to be characters stronger than others but it should be trough rigorous training that these characters can be surpassed and not free power ups.

Well the main characters have to become stronger eventually

Because everything else in this world is inconsistent. Time included.

I agree with you bro. I miss the strategic side of Naruto where raw power wasn't just enough to win. You needed to be cunning and brilliant. Now its not the same.

They are up against a god level character. They have to be stronger than everyone else to stand a chance. :|

Bleach I agree with, only in bleach will a guy get neg diffed 1 chapter, only to come back and neg diff his old squad as a bad guy 10 chapters later.

Bleach has the most inconsistent power levels ever. Captain level characters will struggle with some villain early in the manga. Only to have a medium difficulty battle with stronger enemies later and emerge victorious.

But doesn't it seem like other characters are being left behind power wise. Look at everyone else besides Naruto and Sasuke and they most of them seem like garbage. And not even through training will they ever reach Naruto and Sasuke in power

It's not like it's without explanation....

Naruto gets kicked around by Tobi, Kyuubi says "Hey! Lets be friends! I will lend you ALL of my chakra now!". Then he proceeds to own the Tailed Beasts.

Obito becomes Juubi Jinchuuriki, Kyuubi goes, "Hey! Remember that time like 200 chapters ago when we fused my chakra with Sage Chakra? Let's do that and kick this guys ass!". Then Naruto proceeds to kick Obito's ass.

Then Madara beats Naruto down and strips him of his Kyuubi, and the Sage of the Six Paths goes, "Hey! Let me give you half of my power, since I'm a living legend and probably the top two strongest that has ever existed IF YOU INCLUDE MY MOTHER, and you also have all nine tailed beasts in you so feel free to use their abilities".

I agree with you at the point that this is just predictable, boring writing though, but at least they explain some stuff. DBZ had Goku going from like 180,000 to able to challenge Frieza's final form when his FIRST form was at 530,000? So he went from being under Frieza's first form to being able to challenge his low power final form with NO explanation other than Zenkai power boost.

Well because the character who they power up to beat, would already be stronger than whoever. If your asking for everyone to be equally broken and no one left behind in power scaling, that may be a difficult request.

I understand your message, but that example shows the exact opopsite. You basically claimed you never know who's stronger than who then claimed it seems like N or S >>> any Hokage...

OT: I can agree to an extent, but its not like the manga doesn't give a clue about power levels. I can usually tell when character A > character B.
There's simply too many characters around the same level, i think that's what you have a problem with. I find this great because you never know who would win in a determined match up until it actually happens.

I meant it for Bleach and not Naruto in who can defeat who. In Naruto it's obvious who the stronger characters are. And your last sentence is the total opposite of what I think. To me there's not enough characters around the same level and it makes other characters look like trash.

Edit: Nvm, i didn't read well.
Why is this in the Naruto Discussion forum anyway? ._.
