That maybe Itachi, when he said "I leave Sasuke to you", he meant that he wanted Naruto to help Sasuke be acknowledged by everyone, so that he can become hokage. Because only the one who is acknowledged by everyone can become one.
It's like Hashirama and Madara's arc, when Hashirama wanted Madara to become hokage but noone acknowledged him. I think Naruto is going to change that, and make everyone like Sasuke, so that he becomes the first Uchiha hokage at last.
No, Lord Sasuke will not become hokage. Naruto is much more powerful than Lord Sasuke and everyone in Konoha clearly prefers Naruto. Lord Sasuke may create his own village and become Kage of that though.
I just watched the ep as well and I thought the opposite. I noticed that naruto wasn't the least bit threatened by sasukes omission because he knew what the requirements are to be hokage and sasuke didn't fit them. That's why naruto didn't flare up like kiba (lawl kiba face in the first pic).

Itachi tried to do everything on his own, and failed with his goal of causing Sasuke to return to Konoha as a hero. Hence, why he gave some friendly advice to both Kabuto/Naruto, who received it well whilst Itachi admitted his failures repeatedly to them and a few others. He doesn't want others to mess up like he did.
- The, "I leave Sasuke to you" part, was said because Sasuke is the last thing Itachi had left. He's the only worry Itachi has (or rather had) at the moment. Konoha's safe, the Uchiha clan's honor is in tact (since Itachi is the scapegoat and no one knows the entire clan was plotting high treason), and Sasuke is all that's left. When Itachi said that, it was still when Sasuke wanted to follow his emotions, and throw away Itachi's sacrifice as well as make the deaths of his clan members entirely meaningless. He wanted to kill innocent people instead of just the elders just to feel better. Itachi was putting his faith in Naruto there and earnestly believed that Naruto could tnj Sasuke. Itachi doesn't know that Sasuke changed his mind after he left.
Conclusion: Itachi wants Naruto to become Hokage and believes he can. In regards to Sasuke, he put his faith in Naruto and thinks that he will cause him to return to Konoha where he can be with friends and live happily. That's all.
Sasuke being Hokage was never implied, by either Naruto or Itachi. Sasuke just changes his mind easily (which is why Kishimoto called him "pure" he's easily affected by nearly every situation he's in) and by the time the series is over, he more than likely won't want to be Hokage. He'll just be back at the village.
What Itachi said also contradicts the idea of Sasuke becoming Hokage. Sasuke was acknowledged already, he still somewhat is considering that girls still fawn over him, received more praise than any other character in the series, and boys are jealous. He threw all that away when he didn't have to. A Hokage also cares for the people of the village like a family. None of the Uchiha cared about the people living in Konoha at all, bar Kagami, Shisui, and Itachi. He's not Hokage material.
The only suitable Uchiha Hokage would have been Shisui or Itachi. Other than that, it's better if the Uchiha never take office. The others only care for themselves and that's a disgusting/terrible trait to have. That's also the main reason Shisui/Itachi were against the Uchiha coup and them overthrowing/killing Hiruzen. It would disrupt the peace of the village (and according to the Databook, Hiruzen's reign was actually the most peaceful time in Konoha)...an Uchiha dictatorship is just not a good idea.
Also, if Sasuke was going to be Hokage, his best shot would have been to keep his older brother's wishes in mind the first time he heard them. He'd get credit for the deaths of 3 missing-nins: Orochimaru, Deidara, and Itachi. Soon after Itachi's death, Sasuke and Obito actually visited Konoha. Just look at how the fodders were praising Sasuke here:

Making Sasuke Hokage now serves no purpose. Especially when he could have been long, long ago. Also, with all the developments we have of the Uchiha clan bar 3 of them, and Kishimoto referring to Sasuke as "selfish", "easily-influenced", "constantly dwells on the past and cannot look to the future", and "naive" in his interviews, there's not a chance. And this was all said in 2014 by the author. :/
sasuke can't be hokage. even if he and naruto are successful in beating kaguya and winning the war. he is still a murderer(killed samurai, and danzo technically), he's a deserter. he was an agent of an enemy of the state(orochimaru, say what you will about his actual involvement in his affairs, it doesn't really matter). he was a part of another criminal organization akatsuki. while a member he attacked the jinchuriki of that village, who is also the brother of the current kage. he also planned to take revenge on everyone in konoha, including children(i realize he changed his mind later, but still). he is not even in the running to be a kage for any village. unless he finds a land of his own and starts something up. also, you took what itachi said all wrong. naruto thought back to that because sasuke had just said he doesn't care what any of them thought. which means he wasn't fit to be hokage in itachi's eye's.

And if he does become hokage, all in what you just said will make you look stupid. It hasn't been brought up of his intentions to be hokage for no reason, and naruto is too naive to be hokage so he is out too right now. Kakashi is the likely candidate that will become the next hokage until sasuke and naruto both are old enough for the job.
