Cutscene starts with a battle-torn forest, Orochimaru's face in the dirt and Sasori wielding his Third Kazekage puppet.

Sasori: This is the end.

Pain: [Narrows his eyes.] No. It is not over yet.

Orochimaru uses Oral Rebirth and slithers past Sasori (who's like "wtf?!") towards Pain.

Orochimaru: [Reaches for Pain's eyes.] You will be mine! Rinnegan!

Orochimaru: [Gets caught in a small repelling force.] Nggah...?

Pain: Shinra Tensei.

Pain uses a full-scale country-sized Shinra Tensei against Orochimaru at point-blank range
even with a full-scale country-sized Shinra Tensei at point-blank range, pain still doesn't manage to make a drastic change in distance between Orochimaru and himself and Orochimaru lands on his feet as well. *fangasm*

Pain: Orochimaru, just play now. Now it gets serious.

Orochimaru: Heh heh... you're right. I thought I could do it, but...

I know that is not so easy.

We are serious, then.

Why don't you ask me to become a part of Akatsuki? Hm?

Sasori: But how dare you...

Orochimaru: As I said before, I'm really interested in getting into your group.

My entry would be the quickest way to satisfy my curiosity.



So, apparently, unlike all of the other members of Akatsuki, Orochimaru wasn't invited. lel

You have to give credit to Orochimaru for taking a full-scale Shinra Tensei to the face and still landing on his feet, though.

I'm pretty sure it was a country-sized Shinra Tensei. The only difference is that the blast radius was directed towards Orochimaru and Orochimaru only, rather than in a 360 degree radius.
