Orochimaru-sama was reputed as the genius amongst the legendary sannin, and it wasn't for nothing. In his younger shinobi days, he created the layout of his summoning tattoos, which require no hand signs in order to summon. There are several of them, and each have unique functions.. So far seen, the tattoo around Lord Orochimaru's left wrist is designed to allow Orochimaru to access snakes ranking from all different sizes, from C rank snakes all the way to S rank snakes. This tattoo requires Orochimaru to induce the upper area of the tattoo with blood in order to summon the desired snakes..
Orochimaru's tattoos located on both of Orochimaru's arms ( upper portion. / triceps/ biceps) is designed to summon snakes from this area and act as a fast striking surprise attack( usually with a barrage of snakes ranging from 2 -8 from each arm).. This requires no blood offering.. These snakes can range from standard to thick sized snakes ( the latter being the stronger and smarter of the 2) and can grow to extensive lengths and size.. the latter however can incorporate direct conjunctions with the user such as killer intent ..
Now , this next ability is unknown if derived from 1 of Orochimaru's tattoos, but it is very useful.. Orochimaru can summon thick well sized snakes ( about the size of a large python) ranging from 1 to 3 times the size mentioned..from any part of his body.. without any blood offering, weaving of any hand signs or needed movement.. these snakes come out very quickly and can protect the user from incoming attacks almost instantly.. They also can act in a striking manner offensively to catch the target off guard..
