Sasuke does not need to swap with something to teleport.

He doesn't need an object to swap with. He can teleport normally. Swapping with an object just enhances the range.

Remember when he was about to fall in the lava and he teleported to Naruto's leg? He did not swap with anything then.
Remember when he dodged Madara's storm element attack? He did not swap with anything then.

Can someone please post those scans?

Even if he did have to swap with something, he could always just treat the air itself as an object and swap places with some air molecules. Air is pretty much everywhere on Earth, so it would be pretty much the same as normal teleporting.

i was discussing this earlier with someone.. it could be that kishi angled the camera in such a way so we didnt always see he was swapping with something keeping the technique more of a mystery.. also i dont think sasuke can just swap himself with anything.. if he could he should have just swapped places with a sand grain and got closer to the portal so he could immediately swap again rather than running all that way.. the swapping might require the other object to have a certain mass..

of course i dont understand why he had to run in the first place he should have just teleported his way to the warp hole rather than running and then swapping..

so unless sasuke has been swapping himself with small debree we havent seen all this time then i dont understand it.. either way il wait for more info on the ability before making a conclusion.. for now il say he can teleport without swapping

he explained it via Manga Scans... he expects us to have common sense and the ability to think for ourselves... when we see Sasuke swap places with a sword I assume he swapped places with a sword because clearly Madara was dashing a Sasuke but landed on a swod... Genjutsu? Don't think so it's Madara

OT: As the OP said, I don't think it is just limited to a solid object. I dno't think there will be an in depth explanation more than what Sasuke just revealed this issue. Kishimoto hasn't been thoroughly explaining any jutsu for quite sometime now so don't expect an in depth pictorial analysis from Kishi on this.

But yeah I don't see why he simply can't swap with air molecules I mean all things have chakra even nature itself, his Sharingan can see chakra so it wouldn't be far fetched to just swap with a particular area of air.

Sasuke doesn't need a sword he is a Sharingan and Taijutsu master with teleportation speed
