Yup. I don't doubt that he had something planned for BZ, or he could have left his back story as was. He said in an interview that he didn't know how Madara was going to get defeated. He had a relatively unknown character lying around and was probably all like "hey how about he's the 'son' of Kaguya and he defeats Madara". Then he had to do a complicated explanation to make BZ beating Madara make sense

There's a little similarities but how can narutos story go downhill when the plot is nowhere near the same the similarities stop after the HxH exams

And madara was defeated easily because naruto and sasuke are supposed to surpass hashi and madara and defeating Kaguya will mean they both surpassed hashi and madara
That's why madaras time as the juubis Jin was cut short sasuke can't surpass madara in that form but he can by defeating Kaguya with naruto
