First he mentions that Jiraiya is stronger than itachi but in the polls he listed
a) Jiraiya =itachi
b) itachi > sm jiraiya.

so how the fuk is people gonna vote jiraiya > itachi when there is no Jiraya > itachi in the polls. =D

1. So what if deva said it? Deva was restricted due to the location, why would deva try to use his village busting attacks in his own village? Deva would've retreated if jiraiya won.

2. It doesnt even matter if deva said that hidan with info could kill him. Jiraiya has no answer to cbt/cst.

3. Nagato played with jiraiya long enough for him to even figure it out, in a real battle scenario where pein uses all 6 paths simultaneously jiraiya wouldnt be alive long enough to get said info.

4. Itachi lied because he was protecting konoha, he didnt fight jiraiya because he was the only one standing in the way of akatsuki & naruto. Itachi would basically be handing over the strongest bijuu to the enemy, why on earth would Itachi even attempt to fight him. Itachi made the excuse to get them to leave because if Itachi did what he did to kakashi then all they had to do was take naruto & leave.

5. Asuma/kurenai/Kakashi/Gai were not protecting naruto, akatsuki gains nothing from fighting them.

Well guess we'll have to drop it till it's further proven that Jman can handle itachi and pain

This isn't a bashing thread or anything like that, but a lot of NB users INSULT ME when I state facts about how Jiraiya is stronger than Itachi. Remember when Itachi chickened out when he saw Jiraiya? The most amazing part of all of that was that he had Kisame on his side. Seriously, if Itachi with help is afraid of Jiraiya, I can't imagine him alone (he would probably cry ). Anyway, I will state facts:

Jiraiya (with knowledge) equals 6 Paths of Pain (no one would win).
Jiraiya (without knowledge) equals a little less than 3 Paths of Pain.
So with that said, let's just get this clear; Jiraiya wouldn't need any kind of knowledge to beat Itachi, so that would mean Itachi would fight a Jiraiya which would equal 7 Paths of Pain or more. Why? You don't need any kind of knowledge to defeat a single person (like how Jiraiya had a hard time understanding how the real one wasn't among the 3 Paths of Pain), so that would mean that Jiraiya could fight freely without having to be careful that there are no more than 1.

By the way, did I mention Itachi was scared of Jiraiya even with Kisame on his side?

Anyway, Jiraiya knows most (if not all) of Itachi's abilities, so he could simply use sage-mode and use a Gigantic Rasengan to destroy Itachi's Susano'o (assuming Itachi isn't using his Taka-Mirror; if he is, then Jiraiya could keep Itachi busy until he gets tired of using Susano'o).

Let's just keep it simple and fair for Itachi fans; Sage Mode Jiraiya equals Edo-Itachi. Not bad.

I think you went about it the wrong way but I do believe Jiraiya can take Itachi, It was Itachi who said they would all die if him and Kisame fought Jiraiya, same result with backup. Kisame wouldn't accept that if he didn't think it was true, Kisame and Itachi didn't truly trust each other, respected each other, but didn't completely trust each other. This was shown when they were first partnered up, Itachi has his sharingan constantly on because of Kisame.

Now, If we remember what Itachi said about Jiraiya, If they fought (with Kisame and/or with back up) they would all die or be seriously hurt. Jiraiya confirmed this when he fought and beat 3 Peins, got surprised attacked by a 4th Pein and had to face all 6, willed himself back to life and killed another one. All Pein paths are Kage levels and Jiraiya took out 4 of them while also gaining information on them.

Jiraiya is a wise person and knows his limits and he spied on Akatsuki for years so had info on some of the members. He knew about Itachi and Kisame being in it and he knew of their reputation. He was alive when Uchihas were still around as well. When he arrived to save Naruto and Sasuke, he said he'll kill Itachi and Kisame both. He wouldn't say that if he couldn't, he would be thinking about how it might be hard or how he couldn't take them alone and try to figure out how to escape with Naruto and Sasuke. After just hearing a few things about Pein, Jiraiya had doubts about his chances and prepared for the worst case.

Both are equal in Stats but Jiraiya is higher in experience and not below in wisdom and smarts.

1. So you think Pein would have to resort to Chibaku Tensei/Chou Shinra Tensei to win? Interesting. Well tell me this, why couldn't Pein use them when they were fighting over the sea?

3. Pein couldn't kill Jiraiya with one arm and almost no jutsus, Jiraiya had to turn off Sage Mode and quit fighting for Pein to finally kill him. Jiraiya could had also won if he engaged Nagato directly.

4. Yet it was Itachi's idea to go after Naruto in the first place and completely disregarded Kisame's hesitations. If Itachi really wanted an out, he could had agreed when Kisame said he didn't know if Itachi could handle Jiraiya... but he didn't, he insisted that they were equals and pushed ahead instead of leaving. And, you know, before the retcon Kurama would had died if Naruto died; Itachi could had killed Naruto and f'd up Akatsuki's entire plan.

5. In a way, they were. Kill Itachi/Kisame, keep Naruto safe. If they were dead, Jiraiya wouldn't have had to chase them out of the hotel.

The reason I'd say Jiraiya could beat Itachi is because of his Frog Song Genjutsu. Itachi has shown that he can't escape Sound Genjutsu without help.

i guess u missed the part where itachi WAS A GOOD GUY AND NEVER WANTED TO KILL jiraya...he was just modest.... with no knowledge pretty much no once can defeat itachi since once youre in his genjutsu (which happened to pretty much EVERY oponent of him at least once) he will either kill or mind**** him...also he doesnt need more like a second to do so....no way in hell jiraya would win against him im sorry..

You say it like Itachi is going to land Tsukuyomi. It's close range. And Jiraiya knows the shadow clone jutsu. Sharingan can't distinguish shadow clones. Kakashi tricked him, I'm sure Jiraiya can too.
