Does the manga say how a shinobi becomes a jounin?

I need help again for my fanfic. I can't seem to remember how they got the rank of jounin.

For chuunin, it was the exams. Does it say anywhere that there's an exam or do they get appointed like the Hokage gets appointed?

no it never was but i think the requiremnets are:

be a chunin and atleast do a few S class missions then another jonin has to recommend you like what was said in the road to ninja movie

It was never said, still the answer is rather obvious. A Chuunin becomes a Jounin when their higher ups thinks that they are strong, experienced and smart enough to lead a team.

Never said: but I think it's like a tournament thing of sorts. Let's say there's 80 people who wanna become jounin. So there will be 10 tournaments with 8 people in each 1. Whoever wins each tournament wins the rank.

In the beginning of the movie "Road to Ninja" you can see all of them writing requests to become Jounin and Tsunade had to deem them either ready or not ready to take on the rank (with parental permission, as Sakura's parents disagreed lol). In the end they were all rejected from furthering to Jounin as Tsunade did not deem them ready lol. Someone correct me if it was Chuunin they were signing up for! Either way I'm thinking that's the way it goes, and then if they are deemed worthy to further their rank, then they take the exams for said rank as well. Not sure but I hope this helped dear.

*Wait I remember it was Jounin and the families would write a recommendation letter for them. Naruto was sad because he didn't have anyone to write his recommendation letter, as most had their parents to do it for them.

Oh yeah! Wasn't Kakashi showing a paper or certificate of some sort when he got promoted to jounin?!?! Was there? What could it have said?!

Two ways Hokage can promote you or you test for it. Its that unlike the chuning you do not need to fight against other genin from other villages it a village test.
