I just watched the movie, and let me say after all the hype I can honestly say it delivered exactly NONE of it. Here are my gripes with the movie:
- I hink the best term to describe the Godzilla model is a glorified rubber duck, seriously it looked so weird for a 21st c. movie
- Godzilla was shooting a kamehameha (or ice beam, whichever you prefer)
- they f'ing carried a nuclear warhead by hand
- only thing they actually used against the monsters are guns, they only used bigger weapons on a very, VERY rare occasion
- through almost the entire movie it's very dark and you only see the character you are supposed to see and a few feet around it
- no story at all, a hero, his family, the scientist, a bomb and an idiotic plan that ofc failed in a way that made absolutely no sense
- every character in the movie will die of radiation poisoning very soon
- the mutos looked like transformers grasshoppers
- They used sandbags and machine-guns at the base for defense
- when the main character aimed a pistol at the monster I outright started laughing out loud
- the main char just happened to go to japan and it happens, than he went to Hawaii and the action just happens to move there, than the monsters just happens to go to his home city and even exactly to the hospital his wife works at
- what looked like the entire US Navy was moved to SF in half a day
- ...
I could go on and on, I give it a miserable 3/10
