I'm rewatching(or trying I should say) the War Arc(before Obito&Madara) and its honestly really hard. Is it just me or does the animation and all seem really PG rated? There is hardly any blood even when the Samurai are getting chopped up. I know Reanimated dont bleed. Or has the show always been this way?

The manga targets a young audience so the author has to draw the line on how dark he can make the war arc.

Lets face it, how many stories about the power of friendship do you see with people be torn to shreds and their insides dragged across the battlefield.

If Madhouse studio was in charged of Naruto's animation, expect Hellsing: Ultimate

Nah. If Naruto was a movie, the violence and gore alone would warrant an R rating.

Uh....Naruto has limbs being ripped off, people being crushed/blown up,or being turned into dry husks/dying in horrible ways.

So yeah....that reason does'nt fly.

Yes now that is the animation/drawing I like. It makes it feel soo much more realistic and intense and gives it emotion!! I feel like im watching a show for 12 yr olds now. DOnt get me wrong I still love Naruto and the story line is amazing. but it is weird how it seems more PG rated all of a sudden, maybe kishi was losing viewers so tried to reach out to a bigger audience by making it for young kids also

Don't forget Obito slaughtering the Mist ninja, that alone disproves the notion that Naruto is supposed to be kiddie.

yugioh got pretty dark in the beginning maybe not that dark but it was out there for the target age at the time.

also these same kids who are the target audience play video games much more violent then that all the time.

Japan has very different standards for how they rate the appropriate age group for a manga, Naruto pushes it but I read in an interview when Kishi was questioned about the contents of Jiraya's books, his reply was that it was inappropriate for the target audience of the manga.

Naruto is intended for a young group but the author pushes it often.

as far as i know, the japanese version of YUGIOH had guns, sexual jokes/harassment and beatings... and i think even people dying. but foxkids (i think) bought all the rights and edited it. but at least they also added some awesome soundtracks, which is imo superior to the japanese ones^^

Like I said, Japan has a very different view of what is appropriate for children, they have a much wider range of things that the media can get away with putting in manga and anime.

Its a cultural thing.

Also the world in general is changing, even in other countries, authors can get away with putting some inappropriate stuff in childrens novels and TV shows.

Heck a long standing children's cartoon introduced a *** joke, people are able to get away with more and more.
