I don't really like either. Sakura's development as a main character seems indeed insufficient while Hinata is only characterized by a few things that people can see either in a good light or bad. I liked those moments when they did something outstanding (for themselves) but otherwise I'm neutral towards them.

I generally don't like timid characters so Sakura is a bit more appealing to me I guess.

Hinata is obviously a worse character than sakura. First off the obvious-she's weaker than sakura in every way. Not only is sakura far stronger than her, she's a medic to boot. As for her character, at least sakura has moments when she isn't thinking about "sasuke-kun". OTOH saying "naruto-kun" is like oxygen for hinata. It's like she's obsessed with naruto in a scary way, and her character revolves around him. This makes her a one dimensional naruto dickrider. So yeah, great thread.

like I said, with the amount of panel time they each get, with sakura getting far more than Hinata, Hinata is the more useful one, considering her lower panel time. Sakura is most of the time just there, for example, the zabuza fight or the team 7 vs Orochimaru fight

She is one dimensional. Naruto kun is the only thing she has going for her. Also Sakura is a main character who is far better, you cant compare side and main characters. But even being a side character she is still pretty bad.

I don't care for Hinata. Compared to a lot of characters she is pretty bad. I just wish we had seen more of her than her revolving around Naruto. I don't dislike her, but I don't like her either.

Hinata is a side character who mostly revolves around her love for Naruto. Yeah. Every character has their role and this is hinata's. Although, she was better in part 1, since she wasn't so Naruto - centric. But yeah I agree, she is pretty 1D, but I'm hoping that can change , even if a little. Although she has had some good moments not centered around Naruto.
