Everything Danzo did, he did because from his point of view it was necessary for the well-beeing of the leaf. And tbh I can understand every single move he made. I don't say they were good moves per se, but I can understand them.
But Sasuke does random, unpredictable shit all the time, goes berserk, gets controlled like a puppet by numerous ppl at the same time and in the next moment wants to be Hokage. Plus he keeps reminding ppl that he's an Uchiha and how they are the superior clan (and especialy he himself) and yada yada yada. If that guy is not the biggest douche in this manga I don't know who is.

when pain attacked the village he killed the frog so naruto couldnt come back in time and beat pain. and he didnt lift a finger to help stop the invasion just so he could steal the hokage position

Danzo intentionally held back his forces during Pain's invasion of Konoha in the hopes Tsunade would've been killed,he also murdered the messenger toad that was sent to get Naruto's aid.

No, because he thought it was the only way to save the people. We know it was wrong but he didn't. He believed he was right and did what he had to do in order to protect the village. In a way it's like my dislike of Sasuke. He annoyed me with his choices but he felt his way was the best way to settle things even though he planned to destroy the village.

I try putting on other people's shoes to understand their point of view. Sometimes it can change how I first felt about them but only if I really have an open mind.

bullshit. The Uchiha were a real threat to the leaf and he wanted to get rid of them before they could weaken the leaf with their rebellion. The whole land of fire might have been wiped out/conquered by the other nations if the Uchiha clan hadn't been stopped. Nobody can say wether shisui's plan would have had succeded, most likely it would have merely delayed the Uchihas plans.
