I personally like the characters. I started watching Naruto for the concept and plot but it's the characters that keep me reading (that, and the fact that I want to know how it ends).

Which is it for you?

I personally loved that Naruto was the one child that everyone hated. Then he grew up not giving up and became like badass.
It showed the watchers that are kinda like what naruto use to be, that its possible to grow into whatever you want to be~

Characters also make this shit happen, and dey cool n shit yo. ye. <3
