[Discussion] Do you think Aizen will play a major role in the story's conclusion?

As most of you know, Bleach is coming to a close as it is currently in its final arc. Now I personally thought that the series would end after the Aizen arc, but I am surely glad that it didn't! Aizen is still very much alive and could potentially play a large role in the remaining story. What exactly he can/will do, I am not sure. However, he is part of Juha Bach's "5 Special War Potential" list which HAS to mean something. It seems that even without his zanpakuto, Aizen can still use the effects of Kyouka Suigetsu (as noted by Bach himself.) So I ask, do you think he will do anything more in the story? If so, what is your theory? Will he end up helping the Shinigami, the Sternritter, or neither? Do you think we will ever see his bankai? Will he remain imprisoned?

My personal theory (though not much of one) is that he will have something to do with the reveal of the Soul King and may even try to kill him.

Personally, I'd like to see him him one last time, even if its just a bit of dialogue. But if he is back for more, knowing him, he could maybe rebuild his zanpakuto, considering it was only in shikai.

Kenpachi Zaraki was said to be the only person who achieved the rank of Captain without attaining bankai. So if Aizen rebuilds his sword and DOESN'T show bankai, I'd be pretty upset :erm:

I wouldn't be surprised if Aizen tricked the Gotei 13 into thinking he had attained Bankai. Just a thought though.

Both Aizen and Urahara will play roles in the very end I think. We cannot look away from the shady behavior of Urahara and the meticulous planning of Aizen. These two are either in on it together or one knows more than the other but there will be a huge reveal about the events that happened 1000 years ago.

If he really wanted to he could have done it. Maybe there is a hidden reason why he didn't want to show him.
Maybe Aizen figured out the dark past on his own. It is clear that the Gotei 13 is cover up from their darker past.
What I mean is Yamamoto killed Quincy as an assassin and the Soul Reaper thing is just to hide that very fact.
The first glimpse of this was through Unohana. She was an assassin no doubt.

Your first question is something I've thought about many times.. Why DIDN'T Yamamoto use his bankai against Aizen? You raise many interesting points, dtninja. I hope Kubo reveals more about the origin of the Gotei 13.

Mind you Urahara has already played a major role in this... he has helped the captains gain their bankai by giving them those pills that hollowed their bankai's, but I think there is more to expect from him.

Yama-jii was more than enough than Aizen in his shikai form, so there was no need for him to go to bankai. Also Yama-jii's shikai is a type that spreads around and attack and defend at the same time.... Aizen can be said to be faster than him. Aizen is a type of person that likes shortcuts and the easiest way to obtain or do something, which is why he created Wonderweiss. What I hate is that those in Squad Zero saying the Quincies are more evil than Aizen.

tbh, I cannot see Aizen siding with the Quincies. Their goals kind of clash with his. Whereas they want to utterly destroy Soul Society, Aizen needs to access the King's Key and become like a god, and rule over whatever he wants.
