He could have used any animals name there and we could have brought up a long, and no doubt meaningful, history on that animal and why some sort of country associated it with something.

Wishful thinking.

I still stand by this ^.

Bro if you see closely you might notice three things

1. Gais summon was a turtle
2. his sixth gate attack was a peacock
3. his seventh gate attack was a tiger

so eventually two are missing the snake and the dragon which i think might show up soon. :)

The Dragons are celestial creatures in Buddhism, very revered. It would have made more sense. But good find, regardless.

I found some interesting stuff going along with this.
Kangiten (Ganesh's equivalent in Buddhism) is also an elephant and had the power to bestow great power or pleasure.
The 'bodhisattva' (enlightened being/trait) related to him is also 'Avaolkitesvara'.
Avaolkitesvara is when one holds the supreme compassion for humans.
I guess this probably shows that Might Guy's will to protect his comrades emanates through his will of fire.

Very nicely done!
Honestly, I liked the idea of an Elephant more than a Dragon... firstly, it was totally unpredictable and secondly, dragons are already overused in fiction... It wouldn't have been that original for Gai to have also used the dragon technique...

I was hoping someone can connect the dots, how the attack Evening Elephant would look like.
