it really doesnt matter because he learned 1 tech that puts him in the top 5 of konoha at that time...he was officailly ranked a genin probabaly because he took 20 years which means he focused more on learning the 8 gates rather than missions or exams...with the 8 gates he was one of the strongest shinobi in konoha wether he was a genin or not...i really would rather see Dai fight against the original 7 swordsmen of the mist first before we see gai get whooped by madara...
