At this point it's all speculation on why he didn't use it, Point is, it was obvious he was a sage.

Is it possible that his Sage Mode originated from the shared chakra he had with Naruto when Naruto dispensed his Kuruma chakra with the Alliance? What I'm getting at is that I believe that when Naruto used Sage Mode all those times while dispensing chakra allowed Minato to try and implement it during Naruto's fight with Obito, so that he can try and help. From that point of view, it's not an ass-pull at all. It was the "Minato's intuition and intelligence" we kept hearing about but never got to actually see a lot of it, which allowed him to learn it so quickly.

This has crossed my mind as well. However all we know about sage mode is that the indication of an inferior sage is frog face. Minato had the markings of a perfect sage. I guess this ass pull can be called back if Kishis makes something up but I doubt it.

If Minato having a Sage Mode wasn't an asspull then it essentially solidifies him as quite possibly the biggest moron this manga has produced. His family weren't worth Sage mode, his village wasn't worth sage mode, the alliance wasn't worth sage mode, his arm wasn't worth sage mode. Yet a half dead Obito is?

You need naruto's chakra control and kushina's blood to be able to Mix Kyuubi's chakra with Sage mode, The kyuubi was aware of this when he suggested that naruto should use Sage mode in conjunction with kurama's chakra.

There is no good reason as to why Minato wouldn't use Sage Mode against someone who can tame the Kyubi, is causing widespread destruction to the village, and has attacked his newborn child and wife.

I'm not saying mix Sage Mode with Kurama though. Minato knew KCM was less useful than Sage Mode against Juubito, so why not stop using Kurama's chakra, and use Sage Mode at at least one point during the fight with Juubito?
