Possible Reasons as to why Minato can use SM
side note: Has Minato now lost both arms? - Madara's staff should be omnuyouton based. ( Madara is more complete than Obito was )
1) Kishi wanted Minato to look better so he gave him SM
2) Minato having sage mode is somehow relavent to the future plot ( cause this chapter, Minato having sage mode served no purpose, except now we know Minato+Sage Mode enhancements cannot react to Madara's swipe )
3) what if when Minato merged chakras with naruto, he aquired some sage mode abilties- there chakra did merge after all-( mabey Naruto will be able to use FTG aswell since he merged his (spirit and body) with his dad.
4) KIshi forgot about the sage training arc, and the requirements to obtain it
5) kishi forgot about all the moments Minato should have used SM if he had it ( Obito, kyubi, Juubito....)
6) Since minato is such a genius, after wathcing Naruto use sage mode, he was able to use it aswell.
personally, I think #3 makes the most sense

It would have been much better if he didn't have SM; no one would blame Kishi for making Minato trying to take on JM Madara alone in base mode, considering his son's life's in danger and Madara's the main villain right now, but he's just raised more questions by giving Minato Sage Mode and now he's probably made the most confusing chapter to date.

Minato's name was on the scroll that had Jiraiya's name and that Naruto put his name on. It's been known that Minato had SM. Funny how years ago people argued saying just because his name was on it didn't mean he actually had SM. Well look at him now.

Part 1 naruto must have sm too since his name was stamped there in part 1. That scroll is only for those who sign the summon contract, read the manga more carefully next time.

Minato was Jiraiya's student since he was a genin, what makes you think he didn't use shadow clones to increase his training time like Naruto? All Kakashi said was that he didn't use clones to train because he lack the stamina for it, and that it was prefect for Naruto since he has a lot of stamina and chakra. Minato clearly had a lot of chakra, learning SM requires you to as Pa toad pointed out to Naruto. Yes Minato is a fast ninja yet you seem to forget ninjas can increase their speed via chakra for shunshin, 1 Bijuu alone can give a person chakra to be fast, Madara who was fast alone has 9 Bijuus in him, the Rinnegan which is more evolved than the sharingan, sensor that goes with it and battle experience (he seen Tobirama FTG enough to no be surprised by it)
Kishi only ever had Minato and the edo kages as supporters for Naruto and Sasuke, he wasn't going to have the old generation do the work for the current one. As for the Itachi vs Minato thing, base Minato seems to have the right skill set to take alive Itachi and that's all there is too it
What are you talking about? Being an Edo makes you weaker than you are alive, Madara and Tobirama pretty much stated that much. Where does it say he never mastered SM? He was Jiraiya's student since he was a genin and was Jiraiya's favorite student so why wouldn't Jiraiya teach him SM? Gamabuta and Pa toad both knew Minato, it's not that hard to put the pieces together.
Getting 1 paneled by a guy who's stronger than Juubito isn't something to be ashamed of, Madara made Hashirama and Tobirama into nothing more than pincushions while Minato only ever loses an arm. Look back and see the kind of damages Hashirama, Tobirama and Hiruzen got from Juubito and look at what Minato got, not as badly damaged but was weakened. Everyone knows edos are weaker than they are alive and Minato just had most of his chakra absorbed by the God tree a while ago.

All I know is your farfetched idea is incorrect. Minato didn't know that Naruto had merged an element with Rasengan once he was revived.

That's plausible. I doubt Minato has chakra reserves as expansive as Naruto and Jiraiya.

He would had he not been merely a supporter like the other edo kages. All kages were down played so Naruto and Sasuke could shine. Minato having SM was foreshadowed since Pain arc

. How else would the toad know of Minato so well? Naruto never met the toad Sages until they were going to train him, only differences is Minato was Jiraiya's student for much longer so had more times to meet them earlier on.End of Days
