It's a little more then minor. It allows Minato to take Kisame by surprise. normally, Kisame should be capable of keeping track of where they are (the kunai) or knowing the general direction of the kunai. Without knowing where they are, he's at a severe disadvantage.

Changing the environment would give him somewhat of an advantage. But, then again you also restricted one of his techniques (for a tad bit).

this is rich. Kisame does not his own ninjutsu to beat her. A normal katana, basic taijutsu and kenjutsu is enough for Tenten.

Edit: screw katana Kisame solos her with taijutsu, he blocked a leaf hurricane from Gai and reacted/blocked/dodged lightning Based projectiles of Bee.
