If they were both alive, Nagato would've easily won, since itachi had already lost the light in both eyes, also Nagato still would've had the six paths of pain. No, Gaara would probably beat Hebi Sasuke. Gaara lost because he also had to protect the vilage from Deidara's bombs. Because he was protecting the vilage he couldnt fully focus on Deidara.

Sasuke only won from Deidara because the entire fight was a plot no jutsu. Deidara missed one arm, Sasuke had his lightning release which countered Deidara's bombs, his sharingan allowed him to survive C4 and he barely survived C0 due to that summoning jutsu. Sasuke had to use all the luck in the world to barely defeat Deidara.

Itachi was already blind when he died, and so the only reason he was able to use Amaterasu against Nagato, was because of the fact that was an edo tensei. What I meant was if he, and Nagato were to go at it, being revived as they died, itachi probably wouldn't stand a chance, because he no longer had the mangekyou. Itachi went blind in that battle against Sasuke, also he sensed Orochimaru, because at the beginning of that battle he could barley see sasuke, and the moment he lost the mangekyou was before he even used susano'o, which means he used susano'o blind just like Madara did, so Nagato would win easily, because itachi lost his mangekyou, and besides susano'o, he really couldn't put up a fight against the six pains. I guess what I'm trying to say is that without the mangekyou, itachi would no longer have Amaterasu, tsukiyomi, izanami, to use against Nagato, all he'd have is his susano'o, and ninjutsu that doesn't require his eyes.

But if they were both at max strength, I honestly don't know who'd win, it would probably be a great battle, on the scale of
Madara vs. Hashirama. But I believe that Nagato would probably win, but then die of exhaustion from the fight, because itachi would truly be a challenge, which he would be for anyone, but itachi isn't unbeatable, and against someone like Madara, he doesn't stand a chance even though he'd put up a good fight.
