I'm playing Pokemon Leaf Green and I have two things left to do: Capture Raikou (I started with Squirtle) and capture Mewtwo.

Finding Raikou is hard as f*** but catching him will be simple (planning on using my Master Ball on him).
Finding Mewtwo is easy but catching him without a Master Ball is truly challenging - probably the most hardest thing to do in Pokemon apart from completing the Pokedex.

So I would like to ask for two things:
1. A strategy that would help me find Raikou - I've thought of using repels and searching, if you have a better way, please tell me.
2. A team of (up to) six to help me catch Mewtwo (Note: they have to be obtainable in Leaf Green, my sister's got Fire Red but she hasn't gotten that far yet so I can't really trade for much from her) (Note 2: this is not a team for battling but just a team for capturing)

Thanks :win:

Too bad you never played Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Catching Uxie Mesprit and Azelf is hard as ****, since they change location when you move, they may escape unless u use mean look, and throwing the ball is even harder lol.

With the capture of mewtwo ultra ball it. I used about 20 before I took it down to red health and sent it to sleep. When you do send it to red health and manage to send it asleep (assuming you would do that) it took me about 5 ultra balls

With the raikou its the finding it thats difficult. I found that its best just to randomly allow it appear before you in the wild. Trying to catch up to it is alot more difficult I found

Oh I have played it and it's bloody heart breaking. I'm pretty sure catching Chansey in the Safari Zone is up there too though. And, btw, it's just Mespirit that moves (unless I'm wrong).

Catching Raikou, Entei and Suicune is the same, as they always move... Also, they, if I remember, ALWAYS escape first turn they get.

OT: Since I don't remember the Pokemon that can be caught, get a Pokemon that can use Sing or Hypnosis. Drowzee, Hypno, Jigglypuff. Try putting Mewtwo to sleep first turn (so get the level up on it). Also, bring a Pokemon that can use Smokescreen or another move to lower accuracy. Keep using that until it won't go lower. Now, use a Pokemon that can use a move to lower Attack stat, just in case it still is able to hit. Now just get it's HP really low, so use Fighting moves that are not very effective so that you don't accidentally kill it. Idk if False Swipe is in that game, but if it's in, use that. Sneasel learns it. Then just keep using the move to put it to sleep (or you could paralyze it with Thunder Wave) and keep throwing your Poke Balls. If you use the same ball type in a row, the chances of catching the Pokemon go higher with each turn.

That's how I caught Mewtwo on Pokemon X.

leaf green? i hope they have timer balls....maybe you should use the master ball on mewtwo and for raiku use a dugtrio or wabaafet in the front since they have abilities that dont let wild pokemon run....a team for mewtwo would consist of some dark type some status inflicters or a spritomb (mewtwos only atks that hit you should be psychic and swift)..but idk if you can get that u should try sabeleye since he sad the same type as sprittomb...bring some potions and revives and just leave his life very very very red....then start using the balls....never use the balls when his life is over half or green always yellow or red....what are your pokemons levels by the way?

I used my starter pokemon, dragonite, tyranitar, pidgeot, persian and omanyte (I only used omanyte for the surf purposes). They were all around lvl 55 expect my starter which was venasaur who was at lvl 70 when I captured mewtwo but I suggest having them a higher lvl. Try not to use any grass types because psychic types are super effective against grass types

Mewtwo is gonna be difficult because its a lvl 70.. just saiyan. Also, if youre on the hunt for raikou, have a diglett or dugtrio out in front to have the arena trap.

@ Ramona: thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'm thinking Parasect maybe? You can catch it around level 60 and it knows Spore (100% accuracy). Marowak has False Swipe but Sneasel's Dark type. I'll try Sneasel but he's quite rare.

@ Avenged: Tyranitar's definitely a good choice because Mewtwo has Psychic and Swift as it's offensive attacks. BTW, it's poison that's weak to psychic not grass

@ Armstrong & Alphaqindyas: Raikou can still use Roar to get away (I think). I've been trying to complete as much as I can of the Pokedex so I've got a wide range of Pokemon. Levelling them up will take long but IDRC. My usual battling team is all around level 60 (Blastoise, Golem, Snorlax, Ninetales, Jolteon & Pidgeot). I have the birds too but I don't really use them.

@bold..no psychic moves are effective on poison types which is why it says super effective when it used psychic on your venasaur(grass/poison )

If you have leaf green, a pokemon with False Swipe is good. It will not knock out the Mewtwo. Also have something that can inflict a non-damaging status effect like paralysis, sleep, or freezing. Save the game right before engaging with Mewtwo. Do not have poison or fighting types on your team. That would be my strategy for catching Mewtwo.

you got a really balanced team there my boy...ok so you use the masterball on raiku...to find it you gotta trick it...like fly to lavender then bike your way to fushia then on the bike lane to celedon etc..let that cat come to you lol

for mewtwo...man wish you had a dark type....you could still get one to take the hits for you then with that same team u have there just keep hitting him and get revives and potions and stuff...youll catch it dont worry....dusk balls timer balls and ultra balls are great use jolteon for paralyze effect

I don't mind changing my team up. I think I might train Larvitar to become Tyranitar (Lord knows how long that'll take!). He walls Mewtwo's Swift and Psychic. Dusk Balls don't exist in Leaf Green but Timer Balls do. I'll use them, thanks.

As for Raikou, I might do that, sounds good.

Ok guys, I'm thinking:

Kingdra - he's fast and can get Smokescreen.
Parasect - Spore
Tyranitar - Wall/Tank
Marowak - False Swipe
HM Slave with Rock Smash.
Anything else just for safe measures.

I've done what you described several times. Firstly, you need to go and stay in the same area ok? Pick a town and stay there. Continuously fly to the same town to reset his location, or walk in and out of a building somewhere in a route. Then all you have to do is keep checking for his location. Have you ever found him yet?

DO NOT USE YOUR MASTERBALL ON HIM. Simply use this combination: Mean look, hypnosis, false swipe. that was you can lower his health without killing him and then put him to sleep, all while keeping him from running away.

Then just use your masterball on mewtwo. problem solved.

Doesn't Roar make him escape anyway?
