Different approaches by both authors in the end...Naruto´s plot tries to move forward as fast as possible, focusing more on the action than anything else.

Personally, I prefer Oda´s work.

i completely agree i think onepiece is much better as a hole.. i mean i like naruto but as u said most characters are completely irrelevant apart from a few which makes there deaths seem like they have no impact..

i mean if a member of the strawhats were to die it would hit the fans a lot more than what neji did or anyone else for that matter..
@bold: So much truth, I was hardly affected by it and I actually like Neji. Now when Usopp looked like he was leaving the crew, I was pissed! I was gonna be so mad if he stayed away but I'm glad he got welcomed back Lol Just goes to show you how important Oda makes his characters
Definitely, every arc he brings in a character that's so interesting that you just hopes he writes them in the straw hat pirates. I remember when I first saw Brook, he instantly pulled me in and made me care about him. Especially when he connected him to the Laboon story, I thought was so damn cool lol
Brook's story is just phenomenal. The moment he said he was tied in to Laboon, I was shocked because I completely forgot about that damn whale Lol I really hope at the end of the series, we see Brook and Laboon reunite, they both deserve closure.

Kishi should have given more times to the villains . Like more fights with the akatsuki and the rookies and their sensei getting chances . The war could have been a great opportunity for this . No matter how much i love NAruto but in all honest opinion , Kishi had the potential to make the war arc a lot better .
Yeah definitely, contrary to popular belief their is such thing as a arc that lasts TOO long. The war arc started in 2010, that's just ridiculous and the fact that we only got real development from dead characters and the main 3 (naruto, sasuke, kakashi) it seems like such a waste. Since I'm not finished catching up on One Piece it's more interesting for me too right now. But I can already see that Oda does a great job at balancing his characters.

Yeah I heard Kishi switched editors and I can kind of see it. Because at times the story moves really fast and other times is moves slow as sh*t like Naruto chapters 647-651 (probably the worst time to ever be a fan of Nauto, sh*t sucked balls man)

lol not my intention but it's pretty much known to everyone that Kishi has abandoned many his characters from part 1.
so much truth here.. i mean i would have loved for rock lee to have been much more involved and developed than he is.. he was so great in part 1 but then was completely forgotten

Naruto's been shit since Pein lost :s
5 kage summit ? Sasuke vs Bee? Kisame vs Guy & Bee? Lost? <------------ those were presentable.
Also Edo Itachi had beautiful panels and so were the Edo Hokage moments.

The war wasn't anything special , but if you imagine it was good then it is. :)

It was just * not as good as fans of the series would've hoped *

Yeah all he did was kick a edo tensei man in half that was standing still..and he used Naruto's chakra in the process, how can anyone really be impressed by that. I would've loved to see Neji show some new sh*t that wasn't in a movie or filler.

Hell yeah man I want them to reunite so bad, I would probably cry if I find out Laboon has died or something. I already knew Ace was gonna die but it still hit me hard to watch it myself, to see Luffy so broken killed me. That's what I'm talking about man, every straw hat has their dream and aspirations that you just want to root for each and everyone of them.

Luffy - wants to become the King of Pirates
Zoro- wants to become the worlds greatest swordsman
Nami - wants to draw a map of the world
Ussop - wants to become a brave warrior of the sea
Sanji - wants to find the All Blue
Chopper - He just wants to be a great doctor or have friends I guess
Robin - wants to know history of the world by reading all the poneglyphs
Franky - wants to create a ship (The Thousand Sunny) that will travel all the seas, just as his master Tom created the Oro jackson for Gol D. Roger.
Brook- wants to keep his promise and reunite with Laboon

It's f*cking amazing man =D

Don't forget Oda has satisfied his fans a helluva lot more than Kishi has, especially recently.
Yeah I view Naruto as Sonic the Hedgehog and One Piece as Legend Of Zelda

Even though Naruto has been bad to many people it still has it's core fans who just can't let go of what the series once was (much like Sonic's genesis days)

And every game Zelda keeps the same formula but somehow manages to make it feel fresh and new, and is always praised by both fans and critics. Much like One Piece.

Well I guess its just a matter of tym before u(op) completly hoists the jolly roger over the headband.
OT: Oda gets me and I wish there were more works with his attentive style of writting were lyk the tinniest moment today can b tied to future events that will come years later and I love the development and how well Oda shares it around. Well I cld go on and on but to me OP is bars above the other series which I do enjoy but just not pumped up about.

You keep comparing Naruto and One Piece, but in truth that you can't. Everything is different.

Luffy and friends is constantly traveling. Luffy didn't start off with loads of people. Therefore, it's not as hard to develop their character as his story move alone.

Yeah, I'll agree to this.

There are a couple things I won't, like they weren't completely ignored, but compared to the SH's, their development and screen time is night and day.

Just curious, how far have you gotten? What ep/ch?

But the war arc was long enough to give everybody great development but the first half was horrible. What about the Gaara retrieval arc, Team Guy was there but they didn't do shit and they got no development (other than Gai). What about the Sasuke retrieval part 2 arc, team kurenai was there but they didn't do shit other than get toyed around with by Obito. Many missed opportunities by Kishimoto leaves him room for no excuses. He's still amazing, I couldn't have come up with the story that he did. Oda is still better at development because even the side characters that aren't part of the straw hats have more development than Naruto's main.

I finished the Whitebeard war, so I'm about 10 episodes away from timeskip and about 100 episodes away from the current stuff.

not exactly
Fighting is mostly what happens in one piece so basically everyone can get in a fight and show off their skills in a one on one fight. it repeats like this every arc pretty much
kishi is more of a storyteller theres obviously not as many battles so theres less development in that aspect
one thing that kishi does do is develop his antagonists, backstory wise, whereas oda doesnt even give an explanation as to how the antagonist became an antagonist
the only one is Arlong
