why do people discredit this shunshin feat from itachi?

although it was a genjutsu i see no reason to discredit it? It looked like a normal shunshin to me and we all know how fast itachi is, itachi is known to stimulate reality against his opponents to make his genjutsu look real as possible.

opinions?

Because Sasuke wasn't the least bit surprised and that was probably done for suspense?

Might be the reason why some people discredit it. I've personally never seen it brought up before though.

You don't really need this feat to say Itachi is fast. But the reason it's not credited is because a 3t Sasuke clearly saw it coming. He wasn't the least bit surprised at all. What good is a speed feat if your opponent sees it coming. Itachi is still in the upper tier of ninja as far as speed goes. It's just that this feat is one of his least impressive ones.

And as far as the genjutsu thing, that right there should discredit it. Not everything in Itachi's genjutsu is as real as possible. If that's the case, Kakashi was really tied down to a cross and stabbed a bunch of times and Itachi can really turn his body into a bunch of crows at will. Itachi makes the pain felt in his genjutsu seem as real as possible, not every single aspect. It's reasonable to think he seems to move faster to someone caught in a genjutsu rather than fighting him in real life

Several reasons...

It isn't his best Shunsin feat, therefore, nearly irrelevant to use as evidence of his speed.

Sasuke easily reacted to it, shown by him smiling in jest of Itachi.

It is of a Genjutsu, and Itachi has been stated to control space and time in his Genjutsu [Tsukuyomi in particular, but the point still stands].

It honestly cannot impact Itachi's current speed so I don't have an idea of the reason in which you brought this scan up.

Very fast, but that was simply genjutsu. It like saying he can summon thousands of clones with swords and do that without the use of genjutsu.

Hmm...I believe this Genjutsu..... Itachi was doing everything as if he would in real life. In other words that Shunshin is how fast Itachi believes himself to be. My opinion....
