.-. Nowadays I rarely read anything that isn't my physics book or manga .____. That's embarrassing. I used to have the habit of reading everyday, and I'd like to build it again...but...eh...I just don't do it. I like challenges (in particular not losing), so I figured maybe this could work.
I'll post a reading per day, and the idea is to read it and post your thoughts on it. So yeah, whoever wants to sign up just has to post "I'm in" and read ofc.
For day#1 I'll read the first three nights of the One Thousand and One Nights. I'll post my thoughts on it when I'm done.

Physics?

So there is another scientist in the base other than me... Interesting.
I'm not a scientist XD I'm just a student xd I'm currently learning about Centripetal force...actually, I'm doing some exercises. There are like two I don't understand, but I'm positive once I check my other book out, I'll understand how to resolve them (or that's the idea xd if not, I'll go begging for some explanations xd).

I wouldn't really recommend it. It's a great work of literature but the plot is a little too repetitive (I read almost 130 nights)

To get back to reading (and it depends on the genre you'd like) I'd recommend Dostoevsky's works for psychological/philosophical novels, or Milan Kundera's for a profound humane experience such as 'the unbearable lightness of being'.

Back then, when I had my habits, I read some of Milan Kundera's work (actually just two novels: The Unbearable Lightness of Being and Immortality), and I know I won't last long right now lol (because I did try to re-read them, but Kundera's way of constructing metaphors based on what seems digressions was getting on my nerves xd I needed something simpler) I want to read some short stories lol
I've read Dostoevsky as well. And I swear, with Crime and Punishment I wanted to fasten the pace xc I was too young when I read that one, now I realize it had an awesome building buuuuut....it's like I'm back to that state again, in which I have 0 patience -_-
Psychics? XD ROFL XD

I'm studying Law =D , tbh i hate science related units U_U
wtf? I never asked anyone to accompany me to the journey of physics.

My own writing includes extended metaphors, a bit like Kundera's, and frankly I read his work during my study breaks last year, it seemed quite simple and light.

I relate to your impatience though; short stories for me mean Francis Scott Fitzgerald and Franz Kafka. So 150-160 pages is what I would look for. Oh well, you seem to know what you're after so good luck!

xd Well, if your read nothing but manga (and lately I just read shonen/gag manga) and physics exercises, it might upset you that Kundera never states the point clearly. Compare his style to Maupassant's and you'll see what I mean xd (I was actually going to read Maupassant's short stories again...but I have never read the One Thousand and One Nights xd I'd like to read at least 10 of them xd Just to get an idea of what they go on). I've never read Fitzgerald either, I'll try him out as well. Now...Kafka, uh? I have read very little of his work (like two of his short stories I don't even recall well and The Metamorphosis), so I might try to dive into his writing.

._. On another note, it seems I'll end up doing this alone xc Too bad.

Being a univeristy student of two social sciences is not really helping me either D: I should be writing an essay as we speak but I keep getting distracted and now I'll leave FINALLY. I do remember a large part of the 1001 Nights, so i can drop by later and comment :) !

I had a somewhat severe existential crisis last year, still into it now, hence my choice of authors/books. I'm coming out of the novel-dominated mood and more into philosophy (it's forced upon me by my studies anyway). Another short story writer that I skimmed through briefly is Bukowski.

I shall be reading 1984 soon, but for future short-story readings I think I can tap along ! Keep me updated

I was simply going to borrow the book from the library, but project Gutenberg has them:

XD That feeling of finally going out off procrastination time... Good look with your essay!
As a matter of fact, a few days ago I found this on the tumblr (dunno if it'll be of any help for you, but still posting it):
Ok. Sounds cool.
I'll keep Bukowski in mind.
Aha! I was going to make a comment about how all your recommendation are existential-related, but it was way too off-topic. I guess you also read Camus' L’Étranger :p
Funny thing is I also want to read 1984 (never read it before xd But seems to be along the lines Huxley's Brave New World and Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 ;D). Tell me when you start with it!!

thx...so I am in.
Cool! :D 10 chara

Ok, I'm already tired of reading. But I got 'till the the story of the second sheykh (the part in which he and his brothers are about to calculate their possessions). So far I think it's pretty interesting because it gives me an idea of what values muslims look up to (specially thanks to the fact project Gutenberg's edition is very extensive with the notes, which saves a lot of research work on my part but adds a lot of reading as well xd). Reading is really the best way to get an insight to a culture! I find pretty the power of eloquence on arabs. Even the jinnee was weak to it Xd

 Sorry! I didn't read yesterday :dead: I'm not even sure of how much days I've missed, but it's all because I get distracted easily. Tomorrow I'll read before opening the tumblr or NB xc
So let's say this:
Try one: failed (cuz the purpose is to read everyday, at least that's my goal). Personal record: one day :O
Current: Try two; day#1
Tonight I read the story of the second sheykh:heh: It's indeed very entertaining, and I also like those stories about magic! :D

I just read the story of the third sheykh, and part of the story of the fisherman (till the 'Efreet appears, and whoa, such an appearance! A lot more colossal than the Jinn from the Merchant's story). I'd keep reading, but gotta go! o_O I'm late!

I stopped in 'the continuation of the story of the fisherman' when the damsel appeared to the cook-maid O____o these stories were excellent,I liked the story of the parrot much and the story of 'King Yoonan and sage Dooban'
but the story of the parrot was sad >_<

I think reading daily will be difficult,I'm getting busy

I actually understand. I doubt I'm as busy as you, but it really it's time consuming...so what about weekly updates about whatever we've managed to read along the week (even if it was 5 mins XD).
