Ethinicity =/= Race

Race refers to a person's physical appearance, such as skin color, eye color, hair color, bone/jaw structure. For example, the Caucasian race or the Asian race. Ethnicity, on the other hand, relates to cultural factors such as nationality, culture, ancestry, language and beliefs. For example, being Caribbean or being Latino/Latina.

Someone can be White/Caribbean, Black/Caribbean and when someone is White/Black, they are referred to as BIracial. It's just like how someone can be Black biologically, and German because they grew up in Germany and speak German.

People can be multiracial (Black/White/Asian) or multiethnic (Caribbean/American/Latino), but they are not the same thing.

For example. I'm Asian by race, but I moved to the States. My ethnicity is Asian and Asian-American, because I was exposed to American culture and therefore have elements of it as a part of my cultural identity. I'm not Caucasian (Race), but I'm still American (ethnicity).
