As promised, i will now try to explain the workings of another basic technique called Kage Bunshin.

Kage Bunshin workings:

Kage Bunshin is a forbidden art skill. Naruto in early days used it to defeat Mizuki

The Kage bunshin splits your chakra evenly among clones

It's your chakra which is evenly split. You can create as much clones as you want, only that depending on your chakra reserve, you can hold the jutsu longer or not. This point is generally misunderstood in debate with people generally thinking that ninjas without high chakra reserve can't use it

It's a wrong way of thinking. Like i show, as long as you have chakra, you can split it to as much clones as you want since no matter how divided your chakra is, it's never 0

In the scenario of Kakashi's feat, let's say he has 1/100 of his chakra left and he made say 50 clones, the total chakra in each one would be 0.02/100. This is why Kakashi tried to bluff with the clones, if it actually came down to it Kakashi wouldn't be able fight effectively with any one of them. Not only that but with a chakra so close to zero, you can die very quickly depending on the efforts you make while/after using the technique, since when your chakra reach zero, you could die if you have no stamina left

So you can create as much clone as you want, but depending on the amount of chakra in each clone, it's not only hard to maintain them, but you put yourself in a life or death situation if you overexert yourself. It's for that reason that this jutsu is not suited for people with little chakra, reason why those type of ninja usually use a limited amount of clone during fights in order not to get your chakra go to waste uselessly

If you use one clone, him and the original will have a half of chakra(50%)
If you make 2clones, it's split in 3, so roughly 33.33% of chakra for each
If you make 3clones, it's split in 4, so 25% of chakra for each
If you make 4clones, it's split in 5, so 10% of chakra for each
... and so on

And obviously more there is chakra in clone(s), more time you have to use them in battle. It's for that reason that for example when Naruto's clone was practically out of his chakra, he feared to disappear [

I think Kakashi made those Academy clones. Like the ones Naruto kept failing at. They aren't real Kage bunshin, just illusions.

Kakashi could never make that many real clones. He'd die within seconds.

They were real clones(Kage Bunshin no jutsu), not illusion(Bunshin no jutsu)

Firstly the Bunshin no jutsu and Kage Bunshin no jutsu have different handseals. The Bunshin no jutsu's handseal(clone technique) is Ram → Snake → Tiger

Secondly why would he say Kage Bunshin if he used a normal Bunshin technique?

Thirdly it's also said in the databook that Kakashi used a tajuu kage bunshin at that point in time

I can tell you that many people on the base don't, but if you do, then it's fine

The time limit part was interesting. Although, I don't think it applies anymore.

I believe you could have gone in a little deeper with Shadow Clones, but still a good read.

Also, you don't die when you run out of chakra (If that were the case everyone would be dead as you have to make chakra first.). It's when you try to create chakra when you can't that your life comes in danger.

I think you should rethink the part about your chakra can't be 0. If your chakra reaches 0 you die, ergo Chyios reanimation jusu she didn't have enough chakra to preform her technique forcing the jusu even with the help of another shinobi and still died.

I think the op could be better if you included why the shadow clone technique was labeled as a forbidden technique, give credit to its creator.

Some of the critiques of it are the example you used when Neji was using his dojutsu the real Naruto was under ground, might be better off using Narutos training with Kakasi and Tenzo to master his wind nature, I think theres info there about the shadow clone technique in it as well.

No you didn't understand. I never said chakra can't reach zero. I said when you divide a number with another, it never reaches 0, which is true since no matter how much time you divide the number 1 for example with a random number, it will never reach the exact number 0, so there would still be chakra in someone when he divides his chakra with the Kage Bunshin only that he would be more close to zero, more the clones he makes. It was basic maths there

Yeah, the guy who can use Kamui which requires a lot more chakra 5 times in a battle will die within seconds. Right.

Good thread, but you should have gotten more detail such as the fact that the user can remotely control how much chakra is in a clone, and can most likely take away or increase the chakra within it.

Nice thread. However you missed one little tiny minute detail. When the kage bunshin is performed, some chakra is used up(lost) in the process. Therefore it just might be possible to for someone to reach zero chakra immediately after using kage bunshin.
