Let me think... yes. Orochimaru had a grudge against Konoha, but Madara is against the world. Orochimaru makes experiments with people while they are alive, if Orochimaru helps the enemy he will be caught in the Infinite Tsukiyomi and everything inside it will be fake.

It was stated in the manga, specially in the Asuma death's chapters.

If it were just like you said, then Orochimaru would only attack Hiruzen, but... he attacked the whole village instead, using the sound village and the sand village. He fighting mano-a-mano vs Hiruzen was just the peak of the scene.

Same enemies is very different from same objective, you're assuming a lot of things without solid support...
